About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

Destined vacation, I had thought you fully retired…. Was looking for something on the big Superbowl night…. I mean, Carrie Underwood and the Champion and the Half Time show etc……Oscar night I unfortunately did not watch, I just didn’t want to get caught up in the political garbage from these celebrities… It used to be fun when they would just go up and accept their award. Sad how times have changed…… Even music awards are no fun to watch anymore….

Hey Richard. I apologize for the lack of feedback and posts on my part. I had a problem with my right eye and it has been a scary situation. I lost a lot of vision and was sent for tests and apparently I am an incredibly healthy person with a blurry eye. Doctors think I had an eye stroke. They have no idea what happened. But here I am, relaxing on a vacation I thought wasn’t going to happen because of this vision thing.
Now, about the Oscars, totally agree. I am sick, SICK of the messaging. I understand the issues and support them but this is the one night I look forward to because it should be pure escapism. But it was just more noise. Ugh. Horrible show

Oh my Rosanne, sorry to hear that. I had a friend that had a stroke in the one eye and it severed the optic nerve. Wreaked havoc for them…… I hope the situation turns around for you. I totally understand about not posting…. It is always a pleasure of seeing them….. Be well and enjoy the time, life is so short as it is……

Thank you Richard. It is scary and I am sorry to hear about your friend. My right eye is pretty cloudy but I will need constant follow up to protect my left eye. I think the vision has improved somewhat but not enough to provide emotional relief. What can you do? I am pretty healthy and exercise and eat properly. My optic nerve wasn’t severed but there are pockets of extreme visual loss. But, I am still here and still writing and will try my best to stay connected. I miss my MCL family. 💕

Oh, my, here’s praying your eye recovers at least somewhat and that you stay healthy and well!
I did like Sufjan Stevens “Mystery of Love”, although I think he could have done it better by himself–and at full length. It’s a lovely song. (A friend once told me to listen to his albums as though it they’re Bach, rather than pop–which does help!)
I was also sorry LadyBird got no Oscar love, and that Timothee Chalamet didn’t win although, of course, that was to be expected, with him only being 22. I have to admit I missed a lot of the show, since my mom wanted to see Worst Cooks in America which was on from 9:00 to 10:00, so there was a lot of switching back and forth then in my home then!

Well ReReader it was kind of an underwhelming show. You did not miss much. I too was hoping for a different outcome but that’s how these awards shows go. Will you be watching American Idol on Sunday? I will add some topics later on in the week. Thank you for your prayers. As the saying goes, things can be a whole lot worse.

I’ll watch as much of American Idol as does not conflict with the finale of Worst Cooks in America, anyway! I am curious to see what they do with it.

I am so sorry to hear about your vision difficulties. My sister suffers from low angle glaucoma, so I understand about fear of loss of sight. I hope perhaps your vision returns. I have had experience with doctors saying there’s no hope and they’re wrong! Keep trying to stay positive. I’ve missed your posts. Welcome Back!!
I’ll be watching Idol on Sunday. It’s unfortunate the problems that Ryan Seacrest has encountered lately. It is so hard to be perfect isn’t it? Yet that seems to be the expectation of everyone everywhere.
Just wanted to let you know that David Cook has just released his latest EP called Chromance on Feb. 16th. Once again, he’s shown us why he won S7 of Idol.
Big news!! He’s headed to Broadway to star in a short run of the musical Kinky Boots, from April 3rd to May 5th. I know he’s always had this on his want to do list. This is a Tony Award winning musical with the score written by Cyndi Lauper(Girls Just Wanna Have Fun). He said in an interview, he had been asked to star in the Broadway play by Green Day, American Idiot, but the timing was not good. I’m so glad he gets to fulfill another dream.

American Idol tomorrow…. Will be interesting…. A hometown girl from Pittsburgh Gabby Barrett, looking forward to seeing this young lady…. She loves Carrie Underwood and Whitney Houston, talk about 2 powerhouse singers…. Gospel Background with R&B and Country….. Hope she does well……. Amazing voice…..
