In response to the horrendous circumstances surrounding the death of George Floyd, CNN and Sesame Street are reaching out to young people with another innovative program, Coming Together: Standing Up To Racism.
The program airs on Saturday, June 6th at 10:00 AM on CNN.
The program hopes to help children and their parents understand and discuss the ongoing protests and systemic racism which exist around the world.
I know my grandchildren are very involved with the news surrounding George Floyd’s death.
Questions galore. Confusion. Bewilderment. Sadness.
One grandchild even suggested that they need a CNN Jr. show to assist them with the pandemic and racism issues, as well as other lifestyle, health, economic and political issues which permeate our lives.
Leave it to CNN and Sesame Street to fill this void. This is the 3rd series the two entities have aired for the younger generation – the first having to deal with the coronavirus.
Big Bird will join CNN commentator Van Jones and CNN anchor and national correspondent Erica Hill to moderate the event. Also making appearances are “Sesame Street” characters — including Elmo, Abby Cadabby and Rosita — and other experts answering questions submitted by families.
Please set your DVR or tune in live to see this 60-minute gift to our young people. You will not be disappointed and your children will thank you.
