Hello Everyone!
Should be a great show tonight…are these three joining Blake, Adam and Pharell or will they be substituting?
Is it just me or is Joshua a young Tom Jones???

Vonnie – they are mentoring I believe. Tom Jones? I will have to check it out. It didn’t struck me at the time but now that you mentioned it….

Shakira is in Europe and couldn’t make the show, but they said she was invited and so sorry she couldn’t be there. (Carson mentioned that last week when they did the preview for this week.)

Lots of great singing tonight but India and Kimberley were exquisite.
Sawyer looked pre-occupied. And then he moved away from the mike stand – some thing he never does – and this was probably distracting him during the front section of the song. The fact that he had to move.
However, the movement did energize his vocals and he sounded more animated and determined in the back half of this song. It was a great performance and I don’t think he has anything to worry about. He is such a passionate artist. Loved the round mouth and relaxed jaw. He is raw and technical at the same time. I love that!
Koryn was good also but I am not a fan of her strident timbre. Phenomenal performer however.

I agree that India nailed her song. It’s takes amazing courage to sing such an iconic song and own it. Brava!! And I just adore Kimberly and Sawyer. I agree that it wasn’t his strongest performance but you can’t look at Sawyer without smiling. He just exudes joy. I was underwhelmed by Koryn’s performance. Really underwhelmed by Corey (sp??) – generic is the word that comes to mind. Loved Joshua. I really just started watching last week when I was visiting my sister but now intend to follow closely.

My favorites from last night…Joshua, Meghan, Hannah, Corey, and I’m still on the fence with Sawyer! I love his voice, style, and genuineness, but am getting a little bored. I like Koryn, just didn’t like her song choice last night!
That said, I really think everyone did really well. I tried putting people in a marketable light…a couple could just plop right down in a recording studio and put out a specific genre today – Corey; Meghan if she decides to go the country route! Hannah has theatre written all over her and I really don’t get the vibe from her that winning or losing is a big problem as long as she is recognized by the theatrical world. Kimberly is easily going to do well in the R&b genre, Koryn is on the fence, she needs to decide inspirational or pop! Joshua is going to fall in the Taylor Hicks category…where to put him! India, I’m not sure!

MCL, have you heard Sawyer’s studio recording of Simple Man? It’s kind of amazing he can channel so much emotion in the sound booth. By the way, I agree with you about his performance as much as I dislike his coach trying to make him into something he’s not, his vocals did improve when he left the mic stand. It’s probably because once he actually accomplished the move and was successful at it, it was not longer distracting him as you said.

Yes I agree Janey. The stairs were problematic as well. Imagine knowing you have to walk down those stairs and sing, while handling a guitar? Too much! With Sawyer, the simpler the better. This is what works.

I will have to download the studio recording. Can’t wait

Thanks for your comments Vonnie. I don’t think we are seeing the full potential of Sawyer on this show. So many of the other singers are older and more developed but Sawyer will blossom with time. He is still so young.
That being said, this is a very talented group of singers. Very.

I liken Sawyer to the folk singers of yesteryear, imagine them having to fit the mold of a singing show! LOL,it makes me both laugh and cringe at the same time. At least Simple Man was not as over-produced Iris.

I do really love Sawyer, but I think the pack is running ahead of him a little now! He is much like Hannah, I don’t get the Impression that going home would disappoint him at all…but he needn’t worry, he won’t be going home for a while, I have a feeling he will be recording when the show is done!

Vonnie – I think Sawyer is unstoppable. He is currently #6 on iTunes Top 200 and is holding the #1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 spots in the iTunes Rock Charts.
Although there are probably more refined and fully developed singers on The Voice, Sawyer is fully unique and fills a void in the music biz.

I totally agree MCL…I think Sawyer is like a rare bird, first instinct, to cage it. I worry about his young age and falling prey to an industry that no longer nurtures their artists!
The reason for me he is falling behind in “my” pack…he still seems uneasy on stage, while everyone else is progressing! Is he brilliant? Yes! Should he win? Not sure! The last two weeks I have been less impressed. But…I know the Tweens are going to put him in the finale!

Yes Vonnie. But, at the end of the day, stars such as Carrie Underwood and, to a certain extent, Jennifer Hudson didn’t flourish under the reality show microscope.
Carrie, especially, grew into the superstar she is today through careful guidance and marketing. I believe the same will happen with Sawyer. I really do. He is filling a void.

MCL, to your point, Sawyer is still holding on to the #1 spot on iTunes Rock. He’s also at the #5, #7, and #16 spots as well. I think that pretty much sums it up as you indicated.

I wish Pharrell would stop boxing Koryn in as only Christian/gospel. She’s shown she can do more than that.
