Vocal Masterclass Discussion For American Idol Season XIV Top 8/9 Show: The Kelly Clarkson Songbook

American Idol Season XIV Top 9 Singers

This is what is going down on American Idol this week:

“Idol’s original superstar returns this Wednesday to mentor, perform, and open her catalogue of hits to our Top 9.

If you’ve ever wanted to hear “Breakaway”, “Since U Been Gone”, and “Catch My Breath” (among others) performed in rapid succession on the stage that started it all, well…this is your week, baby. Kelly! Idol! Wednesday at 8/7c on FOX!”

Kelly will, no doubt, be a fabulous mentor, bringing a wealth of knowledge and musical experience to these Top 9 singers. However, her songs are extremely difficult to execute and the vocal range is considerable, so it will be interesting to see and hear how well these singers fare on Wednesday’s show.

Also, the Bottom 2 singers, voted there as a result of last week’s vote, will have a “sing-off” of sorts – the winner to be determined live via Twitter votes. Ugh. I cannot stand this . I do not like it on The Voice  and, therefore, am confused as to why American Idol felt the need to engage the viewers with this nonsense.  Social Media rules I guess.

Anyway, at the end of the day, only 8 singers of the 9 seated in the picture above will perform this week. Update: Actually all 9 singers will perform, with the Bottom 2 performances live streamed on AmericanIdol.Com for Twitter votes. Okay, I like this idea. It’s like “The Save” is in place every week. Cool.

I think, perhaps, Rayvon, may be at risk for elimination. What do you think?

  1. I hate this twitter save too MCL. It ‘s quite unfair . I hope none of the girls go tonight. There’s no way Daniel is leaving this week even though it’ s his time. I’m so frustrated with how little time FOX is giving AI when NBC gives THE VOICE too much time in my opinion. AI was once the number 1 show on TV for years and has been around for 13 years. It’s ridiculous they can’t have at least a 1 half hour results show every week!

  3. Yes we will but the live streaming is for those who can’t watch the show live and for those on the West Coast. I miss the half hour Results Show.
