American Idol Take Note( pardon the pun): NBC’s The Voice +ITunes Sales Determine Votes

Well, well, well. Looks like the producers of NBC’s The Voice have come up with the perfect solution to refine and, perhaps, legitimize the voting procedure.

According to Mashable.Com:

“After Tuesday night’s live show, fans can vote one of four ways: 1). Via phone. 2). Via the NBC Live app. 3). Online at 4). By buying the songs that the artists perform on the show from iTunes (all available from Universal Republic Records). Of course, that means anyone buying the tunes is participating in the vote, whether they know it or not. “

The article went on to say:

“This new voting opportunity reflects the reality of music lovers who vote every day for their favorite artists by downloading and purchasing their music,” said Paul Telegdy, executive vice president, alternative programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios in a statement.”

Oh me oh my. What a concept and so beautiful in it’s simplicity. American Idol – are you listening? Watch and learn. It’s all about the money, honey!

  1. I am thoroughly enjoying this show! I love Christina’s team! You are right, MCL – this method of voting is much fairer. So, does this mean we can vote every day until June 13? I cannot purchase anything on iTunes, but I loved the group performances! This should be interesting!

American Idol – are you watching? Please pay attention!

  2. I left a comment yesterday and also today – but nothing is here.

  3. Hi MCL! I replied yesterday, but my post got lost. I don’t know why that happens.
Roseanne, I couldn’t log in as I usually do. I had to do it through Twitter. Is this right?

There has been major discussion about this on the Idol Forums. I don’t think management appreciates people talking about other Reality Shows, but especially “The Voice.” I like their voting method. It also means students aren’t up for 2 hours voting. They can do that in the day time.

When you call, the recording tells you the person’s name that you voted for. I have been suggesting Idol do this for a long time. It would help the person voting, and prevent talk that they voted for Scotty but got Hailey’s number.

For 4 years, people have been suggesting that the voting procedures change. Believe me, I am not impressed that Idol received 122 million votes. They make a big deal out of it, but it does not indicate the actual number of people voting or even watching the show!

I really like “The Voice” but did NOT appreciate Christina’s comments about wanting to see Patrick’s pants down. Was it Adam that suggested Christina wants to do it to Patrick> Totally uncalled for. The talent is so good on this show, but that was a turn-off for me.

I didn’t watch “America’s Got Talent” and probably won’t until we get to the TOP 10. I did watch “So You Think You Can Dance” and am enjoying it. They really do have talented dancers!

The simpler the voting method, the better!
