Well, well, well! Looks like our American Idol Alumnae have been making the news today.

I always like to read about Katharine McPhee’s newest projects.

Today, on Rickey.Org, it was revealed that Katharine McPhee was the main reason behind the creation of the much anticipated Broadway-based show, “Smash”, due to premiere on NBC during the 2011-2012 season.

And according to Deadline, Katharine McPhee’s breakout performance during the pilot season is receiving rave reviews across the board.

I am so happy for her. She is one very talented vocalist who needs to be brought back to the forefront.

I was hoping American Idol would feature her at some point. Apparently her mother, Peisha McPhee, is a vocal coach for the American Idol Season 10 singers.

Are you happy for Katharine? Will you be tuning in to watch “Smash” this Fall? I know I will!

  1. What wonderful news about Katharine! I’ll definately be looking forward to watching her new show, and hope to hear her sing once in a while on it. I’ve always wished Kat would have found more success in the music industry. I remember that she was working with David Foster. I don’t think he produced her latest album though, did he? She was a guest on A.I during Season 7 I think, and David was accompaning her on piano, and Kat went on to say they were working on an album together. I wonder what ever happened with that?

  2. MasterclassLady, I totally appreciate you and your reviews, and especially of your love for Kat, but that’s not what rickey said. He said she’s one of the reasons they are excited about the show, not for doing the show: “Yay! Katharine McPhee is being singled out as one of the reasons NBC is excited about the prospects of their Glee-competitor ‘Smash’”. And the show hasn’t been picked up yet. NBC is currently in the process of looking at their pilots and the buzz is really good on it.
