American Idol Top 9 Finalist Pia Toscano Will Make An Appearance On Dancing With The Stars

Well, it looks like Fox’s clever marketing strategy has paid off for American Idol Top 9 Finalist, Pia Toscano.

Pia will be singing on Dancing With The Stars next week, serenading her new boyfriend, Mark Ballas as he frolics about the stage during his dance routine.

And, according to TMZ, Pia will be back on Idol tomorrow evening for a cast-off reunion. What is this? I have no idea. Let’s see if it actually happens first.

She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli. When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler. 1. MCL,

I was going to e-mail you about this interesting new development. Of course, it was on MJ’s blog as the latest scoop about Pia. She was really surprised that FOX would be okay with letting Pia go on a rival show like DWTS. There is a lot of speculation on her blog about what is going on.

This is quite unprecedented. However, it was reported on MJ’s bog that Jimmy Iovine loves Pia and can’t wait to get her first recording done. I hope this is an indication that there are more good things in store for her. They can promote this with the whole angle of Mark and Pia being a couple. I watch DWTS every week, but I just may record it next week.

Cast-off reunion? I thought Nigel said that Pia didn’t connect with the viewers the way people thought? 🙂

well, she doesn’t connect with me, and frankly, i wish she’d go away. 😦

  3. I’m looking forward to seeing Pia on DWTS. I expect that she’ll come across as a lot more relaxed and in the moment than when she was performing in front of the judges. She really shone in the last group number the night she was eliminated. I’m glad that she’s getting this opportunity to be in the spotlight again.

  4. The “Exclusive” banner on this story is amusing. The story is about a personality from the highest rated network TV show on the air who is going to appear on the second highest rated network TV show on the air, whose host made the announcement on primetime TV on one of the four major news and entertainment networks in the country and TMZ claims an exclusive on the story. Is it just me, or is that funny? Like so many words today, this one seems to have lost its meaning.

I was excited when Tom made the announcement last night. I wonder if it will just be an extension of her swan song tour or if she will do something new for DWTS? They have a decent band who is accustomed to doing cover songs, so she won’t be limited to the usual Idol pianist. The DWTS set is limiting for singers to do any sort of stage performance so I don’t expect she will use the appearance as redemption in that regard.

Pia maintains that Mark is just a friend. Once a guy is in the dreaded “just a friend box” it can be pretty difficult to get out. I don’t like his odds of getting an exclusive.

I’m more curious about the cast off reunion on Idol. In the past we always saw the eliminated contestants in a sitting in a row together in the audience. This year we have only seen a few random appearances from them. It has been suggested that Idol spin off another competition for people who were early, surprise eliminations; “Dumped by Idol” or something to that effect. I wonder if this reunion is just members from this year’s cast or if it reaches back to other seasons as well. If it goes back into the earlier rounds this year, we might get to see Emily Anne Reed, Kendra Chantelle, and Lauren Turner. Wait and see I guess.

  5. I enjoyed seeing the “Bottom 5” last night and I am glad that AI10 included them as a preview what might be on the tour this year.
