Tim Urban dropped by The Ellen Show today and captivated Ellen and her viewers with his sweet, accommodating persona.

Then he sang an excellent rendition of Leonard Cohen’s, “Hallelujah“, reinforcing just why he managed to progress so far into this year’s competition.

He possesses a naturally beautiful vocal timbre that, with time and study, will flourish and resonate with additional confidence and artistry.

Also, thank you to Ellen for bringing out Tim’s mature and realistic approach to American Idol- and to life in general. This young man has a good head on his shoulders. He  is extremely grounded and positively focused and this will carry him very far in whatever career path he chooses to take.

  1. Got my DVR set to record Ellen again today. I recorded her show yesterday as well because Jason Castro sang on her show. She is having a good week! I am a fan of Tim’s and I look forward to seeing him on the show today.

I love his voice. I know many put him down for reasons I just can’t figure out. He has a good voice and his song choices have for the most part suited him.

Tim… I wish you well in what ever life has in store for you.

Thank you MCL for hearing the gift Tim has.

  2. I heard a live recording of Jason Mraz (or could’ve been Jack Johnson, not sure) doing “Rainbow Connection.” It was so NOT cheezie. It really was what the AI judges would’ve called making it your own. Such a simple song, inspiring. I really could’ve seen Tim doing it. Sometimes simple is better. Who would’ve thought a song by Kermit the Frog could’ve sounded so mature? I wish you all could hear it, but I think it’s only available on a CD put out by 92.9 in Tucson. They have artists that come to town play in what they call “Studio C.” It has a very small coffee shop type audience (hard to get in), generally acoustic, with conversation and interviews. 3. Oh, I was so pleased with Tim’s performance! He really did such a nice job, probably the best we have heard from him this season. What a sweet, adorable, and personable person he is. I do believe Idol will be the launching pad for a career, perhaps in film or television. How can you not like a young man with such a positive attitude? I wish him the very best!

  6. Tim certainly seems like an intelligent, self-aware guy. I was further impressed by his interview with Michael Slezak on EW where he discusses practically every performance and talks about what his intent was for each performance. It’s too bad that his time in Idol couldn’t have portrayed his intelligence.

  7. I think that came out wrong. What I meant to say was I wish Idol hadn’t portrayed him almost as someone who didn’t really care.
