L ast evening’s show, apart from Alicia Keys involvement, was far from an inspiring and memorable even.

The abbreviated time frame for the show –  down from a 90-minute format to 60 minutes – set a frantic pace that left me frustrated and, at times, confused.

Generally, the singers mirrored my ill ease and looked less prepared than in previous weeks.

No doubt these singers had a lot on their plate because of  additional preparations geared toward Idol Gives Back this evening.

However, I thought Alicia Keys brought an air of class and sophistication when guiding the singers and I only wish I could have seen more interaction between her and the singers. Darn that 60-minute format!

I suspect that the guys will be on the grill tonight. Get ready for an all-male Bottom 3!

As always, I hope to comment further this evening as the show unfolds and don’t forget to add your opinions as well. You can start now or come back later! The  Top 7 Vocal Masterclass article will be online soon.

UPDATE: SAFE: Crystal Bowersox, Lee Dewyze, Siobhan Magnus and Michael Lynche

BOTTOM 3: Casey James, Aaron Kelly , Tim Urban

ELIMINATED: TIM URBAN (gonna miss that smile!)

  1. I agree that Alicia Keys is a class act! I really wish we got to see more of her interactions with the contestants.

And I’m rooting for the girls to hang in there! We really lost so many of them too soon this season.

  2. Maybe after a stint in the bottom 3, Casey would leave the guitar next week. I wish he would, but I think he depends more on his amazing guitar skills than on his voice.

It’s not really surprising to see Tim go; IMO I think he should’ve been gone four weeks ago. However, I will also miss his smile and his nice personality (plus his nice body too–kidding! LOL). I always felt that he’s genuinely loving every minute of his Idol journey.

For next week, I’m hoping for
    1. Only one contestant playing guitar (do something different, Lee and Casey!)
    2. Accurate and constructive judges’ comments
    3. Brilliant performances from at least half of the contestants

And finally: I’m embarrassed to admit it, because it might seem very weird, but I think I have a little “girl-crush” going on for Siobhan (it’s fine, you can laugh). She looked absolutely gorgeous in the results show it makes me smile just thinking about it. Thank God I opted not to take summer classes or I would’ve missed her Idol run.

Solidairity, yes, I agree that Tim loved and enjoyed every minute of his journey, I wish the others would appreciate it as well as he does. What an opportunity of a lifetime! Oh Garcia also looked like he enjoyed it as well, and his gracious send off grabbed my heartstrings. Surely, they know they are NOT going to be the top “dog” and I wished the girl that was sent home last week would have showed more appreciation. Contestants need to remember that the world is watching and someone out there will hire them but not if they acted the way some of them do at the end of their journey on AI.

I enjoyed Wanda and Lopez–their jokes hit it right on the nail–poking fun at AI.

How much money did they raised so far, anyone know?
