MCL, I just returned from the show, and I have to say that, though I was never a fan of hers on the show, Syesha gave the Davids a bigtime run for their money. Her last last two songs were jaw-dropping. I’m sure video will be available soon.

And David Archuleta on WYSYLM in Hartford. The cameraperson was obviously enthused — because it’s very shaky — but the audio (and David’s voice) are fantastic. He changed the ending again, I think, and then said “I love you guys.”

Performances by David Archuleta
Angels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhairN1lKfc
I see fog and then I see the talented David Archuleta. And, he sounds spectacular.
This video is taken from quite a distance, but there is no mistaking that his voice sounds absolutely beautiful.
Although, I hear a hint of fatigue in his voice, but, quite honestly, it may be the fact that the audio is not as accurate as the live performance.
And, whoopdeedoo! He finally sings that upper note on “it”-in the last refrain when he says the words “it may take me” – with clarity and precision. It seems that he chose a lower note for this word than in previous performances. Good call – that nasty interval jump between “wherever” and “it” was really wicked.
David adds some new melodic variations which I always love to hear and the ending is such a vocal work of art. This young man really knows how to deliver with sincerity and passion and his voice always sounds so transcendent. The spirituality of each performance is extremely inspiring indeed.
Excellent performance! Bravissimo!
When You Say You Love Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZwmhZ7wzz0
Ooo – a nice up and close video of my David. But, I hope the camera settles down so I can see his face. And it sort of does. hahaha The fans are overwhelmed here. Who isn’t?
I love how he uses his hands and arms for expression and communication. So endearing.
He is tired, though. He is really grasping that mike – lots of tension in his body and in his face. And, just a thought, that microphone seems a little bit too high him, as it is encouraging him to raise his head when he sings his powerfully sustained upper notes.
It might help you, David, to think “down” when moving “up” – bend those knees and squeeze that butt and make sure your face is level with the audience. And, as I type these words, I can’t believe I am addressing this to little Archie – he rarely has technical problems or issues with his vocal production, so he either is extremely exhausted or just not feeling well.
But, the big thing here is this: even with the odd glitch here and there, he still delivers a heart-rending, inspiring performance and his voice is truly the 8th wonder of the world. A gift from above.
Now, go to bed, David! Rest!
MCL Final Note I did forget to mention the ending – he added a few extra notes in the word “love”. Beautiful.

Thank you MCL. You are great. I was concerned reading David’s comments on myspace. There is one from a girl who talked to him after the Albany concert and she says, “I hope you got your voice back so you could record”. They had the next day off but when another fan asked if he had fun on his day off he said “he rehearsed his voice all day”. What does that mean? Thanks.

Hartford – partial SBM prepare to turn your head sideways
My “professional” opinion is that this is one exhausted young man from cumulative sleep deprivation – with the 24 hour NY to LA back to NY turn around for Teen Choice awards (10 hours of that on a dry, low oxygen airplane) on “day off” draining off what little reserve left. DC all week also appears a bit drained.
Despite this David A gives 500% to his audience and singing — night after night, just amazing. NEXT DAY OFF – SLEEP DAVID SLEEP.

Megan – he sounds really busy. I think this year is going to be an extremely hectic one for both Davids, as both have to capitalize on their enormous Idol success while the iron is hot.
And, once the tour is over – another month or so – they will have a huge chunk of the workload out of the way.
I am not worried about Archie – he is surrounded by strong family and musical influences that have his best interests at heart. He is not a machine – he needs space to develop and create and to breathe – and his family will make sure that this will happen.

David introduction for Cook – and Cook Billie Jean paritial/poor audio
My “professional” opinion – these young men are exhausted from cumulative sleep deprivation, with the “day off” 24 hour marathon of NY/LA/NY for the Teen Choice show zapping what reserve was left. (just think part of this was 10 to 11 hours on an airplane with that low oxygen, dry, recycled air).
Despite this Mr. David Archuleta still gives 110% of what he’s got to his singing and audience.
I hope they are allowed to get some catch up SLEEP sometime!

Well, this is a pretty dark video, but the audio starts to kick in eventually.
David sounds very good, but I hear the fatigue in his voice. However, it iscertainly not interfering with the performing aspects of this song, as he still kicks it up in high gear.
And because he does so, the voice eventually starts to co-operate more fully for him. This is a the sign of a real pro – gives his audience evrything he is capable of giving and then some.
The repetitive aspects of this song can really wear any singer down and, the fact that he keeps the emotional center of this song real and vivid every stop of the tour, speaks volumes for the tremendous work ethic instilled in him.
Maybe they will substitute this song with his new single, “Crush”. I mean, let’s promote this song BIG TIME and what better means than on the last leg of this tour?
Stand By Me (partial) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXGLRet6rJo
Oo – this is a great video. Nice and close and you can see David’s animated face when he sings this song.
And then the camera person decides to turn the camera to a horizontal position, so I have to watch the part of this song lying down. hahaha
But, as always David interacts wonderfully with the crowd.
Great, great vocals. It’s as if this song energizes every pore in nis body and his voice responds to the increased energy.
Whatever the reason, David gives a stellar performance that ends with his confident and powerful vocal cadenza – this time with two or three extra notes thrown in for good measure.
Bravissimo David!
David introduction for Cook – and Cook’s Hello partial/poor audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEH_G9rC1So
And the crowd responds with hysterical enthusiasm for Archie’s introduction of Cookie. I love the introduction to this song – so eerie, so powerful!
Ooo – but the audio is pretty static, however, thankfully gets much better when David Cook starts to sing.
David looks great and sounds great. He sings the first “I love you” line instead of stopping and speaking to the crowd and, you know what? I actually like this much better. It keeps the momentum of the song fluid and is reminiscent of Archie’s “I love you” line at the end of his final number, “When You Say You Love Me”. It bonds both artists to the audience via back to back numbers.
Unfortunately, this video kicks out by the time he enters the second verse.
So, if any David Cook fans have any videos for me from the Hartford concert, please add this to this thread.
Thanks so much and Bravo Mr. Cook!

Okay, I have taken my Gravol and am ready to watch this bumpy video. hahaha
However, David’s remarkable voice makes up for the less than smooth video quality. His voice sounds extremely potent and rich. He moved into his upper range with ease and confidence, great focus in the voice!
His final upper note on the second last “life” was spectacular. My oh my, rock singing does not get better than this and his expressive voice moves this listener as well as those in the audience to explode with cheers and applause.
Don’t Want To Miss A Thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgustK5ZqOs
You know, I didn’t really care for this arrangement when I heard it on American Idol, but when hearing it live, as I did at the Toronto Ontario Canada performance, it was so extraordinary.
David’s voice just soars over the busy instrumental accompaniment and one gets goosebumps throughout this song performance. The arrangement and David’s voice are a perfect match. The words and lyrics come alive like never before because the emotional apsects of the song are highlighted through the melodic and harmonic elements of this song arrangement.
This is certainly not the best video or audio quality, but, we must be thankful for what we receive here from the fans. Such dedication!
David’s gritty yet pure vocals still permeate all the static in the audio quality and that, in and of itself, is reason enough to celebrate.
And that sustained “yeah” is unbelievable and is followed by David conducting the audience to sing the line that follows. And they most certainly do, with great, unbridled enthusiasm.
And, did you notice the bend in his knees? Great technique right there! It allows the soft palate to remain elevated, keeping the throat open and unrestricted – allowing the voice to freely move forward toward the vocal masque.
And, I bet he uses a butt squeeze or two to nail those high notes. Always works! 🙂
My Hero: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9KxlWFFAfg
Although I appreciate the sentiment behind this song, this is my least favorite song in the set. David’s talent elevates this song to a higher plateau, of that there is no doubt.
However, the melody is pedantic and, therefore, is not as memorable as the other four numbers.
David sings this song exceptionally well – I heard the entire version in Toronto and he rocked it out!
This was an abbreviated version -1:55 minutes, but I expect no less from David at this Hartford show.
“Billie Jean” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0I-dSSM_Og
Ooooo – and now we enter the angry and tortured sentiment that is the core of “Billie Jean”.
But, I love this song so much and David works his vocal magic with this song once again.
He starts quietly, almost acoustically, but that’s just the teaser of course. However, it allows the listener to hear David’s pure voice without all the heavy instrumentation.
And when he adds more chest voice to his head voice, he sounds terrific. His voice takes on a bit of vibrato and I can hear the inherent classical elements in Cookie’s voice.
Following this, we hear another layer in David’s vocal inflection – the rustic sound of his rock-flavored vocals. All of this makes for a multi-layered vocal performance and adds excitement and suspense to the entire showcase.
Then he enters the realm of the second verse and the teasing starts again. Listen to the clarity of his diction – so unusual for a rock musician and so welcome. Thank you, David, for being a word nerd!
And, before you know it we are back to his passionate and powerful rock vocals. Unfortunately, this video kicked out about a minute or so before the ending, but, once again, I have no doubt it packed a ton of wallop.!
Bravissimo David. Excellent showcase in Hartford.
