Well our little Archie has transformed in the last few days! What a flirt now.
Love seeing him just have fun out there – and how can that ending keep getting better?
this is truncated clip of Please don’t stop the music — nothing musically here to comment on — but the ending with Cookie “bowing” to Archie is something. Have to love that David Cook

Well, well, well. It’s official! Our little Archie is now a certified Teen heart throb. He is just glowing in this number, looking so elated and so relaxed at the same time.
He performed this song so, so well and his vocals are just outstanding. The run at the end was brilliant – added a few more notes for good measure and had the crowd cheering and hysterical as always at the end of this song.
Has anyone noticed his great rhythmic moves during the “so, darling, darling” – this young man oozes musicality. He feels the music in every pore of his body.
And of course the “beautiful girls” section is always full of rhythmic energy and enthusiasm. Great arrangement. I wish I could get confirmation on who came up with the ides of this upbeat tempo in this section of the song. Send it along if you do know.
Oh my Archie – keep on breaking those hearts. hahahaha

Aww – David Cook. You are truly special. That bow at the end brought tears to my eyes. You are such a caring, humble performer and I truly hope that TPTB treat you as the star that you are.
You are here to stay and, in my opinion, the first true intelligent, technically secure and artistically creative rockstar to emerge from this show. Bravo!

Let’s go Jason. Show ’em what you got. Lots of fan noise, so it is difficult to hear him at the beginning. And either the sound is really poor or his voice is tired. I don’t hear him connecting those words in his phrases like he did during his performance in Newark.
And, also, I noticed that his posture is not as elevated as it could be. He is bending inward and thus collapsing his rib cage, where all the diaphragmatic breathing action occurs. Singers need to be reminded to sit comfortably straight so that proper expansion can occur in the rib cage when they breathe from the diaphragm.
One last thing: lots of forehead tension causes a less focused vocal sound. Remember to maintain open and free facial features when you sing, Jason.
You look tired, though, so hopefully, you will be rested for the Long Island shows. Let’s see how the other two songs went!
Crazy, with intro: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=HJohbpcUvMs
So, Jason “kicks back” and relaxes with the crowd. Takes a swig of water, so maybe his throat is dry! And, yes, he sounds a bit raspy tonight, but he really is trying to sing correctly.
His vocals into the 1st refrain: “Does that make me crazy” are excellent. He pronounces a clean and pure “eh “vowel when singing through his upper range on the word “Crazy”, and as well, maintains a circular mouth and relaxed jaw!
However, he needs to work on carrying the endings of his phrases for a longer period of time before breathing for the next phrase. I don’t like to hear all that silence in between phrases- you lose your audience that way. Some nice ad lib “oo’s and ahs” would work, as well, to fill in the gap between phrases.
Great song for him, though, but I still think the key could be a semi-tone (maybe a tone) lower. It would sit more comfortably in his natural singing range.
Daydream, also with intro: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=hhOClJ63dX8
I love how he talks to the crowd though. That sincerity and Southern charm certainly rings true, doesn’t it?
And this song always works. Jason looks relaxed and the song moves along so musically. This is THE perfect song for Jason and he should research songs from this era to find other music that stylistically match this style.
Listen to the clarity of his voice – wonderful. When the key and style of the song work, these elements can really create a magical performance like this one.
And I heard that vibrato kick in on the last “oo” – a sign that his young voice is starting to mature.
Good work Jason. Now – go to bed and rest those precious vocal cords!

Now what’s all the hehehe about? Let’s see, shall we?
Apologize performed by David Archuleta, uploaded by Dev18Mac
And up the stairs he goes. He strikes his confident pose – notice the one foot ahead of the other? This is a great way to stand-from a technical point of view and from a performing point of view.
Technically, his body distribution is evenly balanced and the bend in the knees encourages stronger breath support from the lower half of his body. It also gives him a sense of buoyancy when he sings.
Performance- wise, he has established a walking position, which serves him well when he does his very cool rhythmic walk down the steps and to the front of the stage.
Great, great facial expressions. Is it just me or is he getting really, really intense with each performance of this song? Those words are so passionately coherent – as if was speaking to you or me. Wonderful work, indeed.
And his lower range is sounding so spectacular – a true glimpse of what is in store as his voice gains even more depth through the years ahead. And as always, the head voice is crystal clear and centered.
Love the “crouching down” posture in the “too late” segments. Wow. He is feeling these lyrics, isn’t he? He just always finds a way of raising the bar night after night after night.
This was a riveting performance of this song. Now I know why it was sent with a “he he he” from Frogcooke.
Translation: “Wait until you see this, MCL!” Bravo David!

When You Say You love Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfSYRTnvN_s uploaded by PinoyPrince300
This is only the last part of the song, but does David ever sound phenomenal! The head tone “woo hoo” was gorgeous indeed and then the video did indeed stop. Boo hoo – not fair. Need to hear the last line. Love the last line!
Angels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nk7d9cyy5g uploaded by Indomass
And the fog engulfs his little frame, but not his voice, Never his voice! Wow, this videographer is excited -lots of shaking but we appreciate your efforts nonetheless.
And David’s voice sounds very rested and resonant. Very liberated. The “yeah yeah” part is sounding excellent as always and he keeps playing the piano through it. Just a momentary grab of the mike and it was back to the piano.
Yes, there is some difficulty toward the end on tricky vowels like “i” in the word “it” and the Aye diphthong in the word “angels”. He needs to remember to maintain a circular formation with his mouth and sing over those upper notes – never try to reach for them.
Just connect all those pure vowels as you would do if you were singing a vocalise (a song without words, meant to strengthen vowel formation) and try not to think too hard about articulating the consonants. Get those vowels perfectly placed and then the consonants will fall into place.
Still, David’s passionate artistry surpasses the technical problems and, in the end, it is how you move people with your voice that is the ultimate test of a great singer. The rest comes with experience and practice but the other cannot be taught.
David – you are truly an exceptional talent.
