Those three – layer cakes on last week’s episode were hilarious. Seriously?  I thought I would learn something but most of those cakes were pretty funny.

However, in fairness to the cooks, I found a 90-minute time frame to create their cake was pretty unrealistic.  I mean,  if you take into account that the cakes have to cool considerably before one attempts the frosting and filling, it doesn’t leave much time to assemble and bake and then re-assemble the individual layers. Nor does it leave time to add any level of extra flourish on top.

Unfortunately, Amanda and Charlie created the least palatable cakes – Amanda’s was raw on the inside and Charlie’s, although delicious, was an assembled nightmare.  It was hysterical, actually, but I give the guy kudos for making it happen. But, it just wasn’t his day.  I was sorry to see him leave. He was one of my favourites.

This week, the cooks must taste and then re-create Chef Gordon Ramsay’s signature Beef Wellington.  Following this, the cooks with the worst dishes compete in a pressure test featuring another one of Gordon Ramsay’s Signature Dishes.

What will it be? I guess you will just have to tune in to MasterChef on Wednesday,  June 8th at 8:00 PM on Fox to find out.
