About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

I tuned into the show mid-point and there were a lot of bad auditions. Why do these shows waste our time showing them? Simon seemed toned down and less critical. I think he (or his helpers) have been reading all the negative comments sprawling all over the Internet.
At least with the “Sing Off” everyone in the various groups have decent to excellent voices. I’d rather watch that show than “X-Factor”. I hear Simon’s show will run until just before Christmas – so as it gets nearer the end, I am sure there will be good talent. Right now, I am not impressed.

I watched the last half of the show, and I saw about four acts–one group and three singles that I thought had a lot of promise. I’m intrigued enough to watch again.

I think I am going to skip X-Factor until it gets deeper into the competition. Then I’ll see if there’s an improvement. I actually disliked seeing Simon there. L.A. Reid seems like he might be a good judge, but with the talent presented last night, I am not going to waste my time.
The segment of the creepy guy pulling down his pants was disgusting. Wonder if there were children in the audience. I have heard the ratings are not what Simon expected.
It’s crazy that DWTS is on at the same time as The Sing-Off, but I like both shows. I think the judges on The Sing-Off are some of the best around. Simon, are you watching?

I so agree with you…this show is taped months in advance, the guy exposing himself could not end up on the editing floor? Really???
Poor choice for a new show to make, I was not impressed at all with this show, will not be watching, I liked the sing off and will be watching that show!

KariAnn – I must add a reminder to watch the Sing-Off. I found the editing of the X-Factor highly manipulative. I thought Idol was bad enough! Lol. The only singer that impressed me was the 13-year-old girl. Sheer, unadulterated talent that one!!

I thought the 13 year old girl was impressive also. That 42 year old female singer needs to learn how to better control her voice, and not shout like she does. She also needs to connect better on an emotional level to what she is singing, and bring more light and shade to her voice, instead of shouting throughout most of the song. If she would work these thing out, she would be incredible, but she sure does have a voice! Oh, I tell you, Rosanne, people could learn so much from David Archuleta!! I think that woman was a bit overpraised. There were a few others I felt were as well!!
