President Barack Obama Gives Vice-President Joe Biden A Surpising Farewell Gift.

Vice President Joe Biden Awarded The Presidential Medal Of Freedom With Distinction By President Barack Obama

Somedays, it pays to wake up in the morning and face another day – even if it’s a cold January day.  Because, there just might be some sunshine and warmth as the day moves forward.

And, for Vice-President Joe Biden, this is exactly what happened on Thursday, January 12th when President Barack Obama surprised him with the Presidential Medal Of Freedom With Distinction.

What was to be a simple farewell party turned into an historic moment  and the speeches from both genetlemen will remain with me for a very long time. They were heartfelt and beautiful and real. I admired the mutual respect between these two men. It was refreshing to see this in a political setting. And much needed.

Here is some background, courtesy of Wikipedia.

“The Presidential Medal of Freedom is an award bestowed by the President of the United States and is—along with the comparable Congressional Gold Medal—the highest civilian award of the United States. It recognizes those people who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors”.[2] The award is not limited to U.S. citizens and, while it is a civilian award, it can also be awarded to military personnel and worn on the uniform.”

Enjoy the attached video. below. Feel free to watch it over and over again if you are having a bad day. I know I will.

And, to the readers who feel disappointed that this blog may turn into a poltiical blog, this is definitely not the case. I have many, many interests. I am a musician first but I am fascinated by the world in general and, in fact, have another rather neglected blog called GrannieTheGeek.Com. Surprise. I am a tech geek!

So, it seems only fair that since many actors and musicians have stated their political views, I should not be deemed a political pundit because of the publication of  a few articles here on the MCL site –  especially when news- breaking political  stories are permeating the airwaves on every network.

See?  This is why American Idol shouldn’t have been cancelled. We would all be watching the preliminary auditions now.

Thanks everyone.  Congratulations to Vice-President Joe Biden and bravo to President Barack Obama for giving his sidekick  a memory which will, undoubtedly, live forever.
