Performing MasterClass Discussion For America’s Got Talent Season 11: The Finale

America's Got Talent Season 11 Finale
Picture Credit: America’s Got Talent Season 11/NBC

This week, America’s Got Talent will select the winning act. Like now!  I am late to the party and, if you are reading this, so are you. So turn to NBC and see the magic unfold.

Guest artists such as Il Divo and Jersey Boys will heighten the entertainment package so you are in for quite a night.

Enjoy. Who do you think will win?  My money is on Brian Justin Crum, although I was not fully enamoured with his song choice last evening.  And Laura Breton and Linkin’ Bridge were extraordinary last night.

Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli. When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. 2. I really REALLY enjoy Victor & Tape Face. And there are 3 others that I really enjoyed. I am SO glad I don’t have to make the decision and I probably won’t agree with the final decision! Having said that I am sure the other 9 will find something – agents will call them.

  3. I have never understood the logic behind the winners of this show…. Clearly Brain Crum should have been the winner…. What a magnificent voice…… Not to take away from the young gal, but he had it all over her vocally…… But of course IMO the person that should win doesn’t… There has only been one winner throughout the seasons that I truly felt that won truly should have and that was Terry Fator….. The best talent ever on this show has been the great singers, like Jackie Evancho, who did not…… I dont watch the show and have not since the beginning…….

  4. The fix was in when I heard Simon say you are the next Taylor Swift. No one else had a chance. Laura Bretan can sing circles around her. No comparison. She is a sweet young lady and I wish her well but I am disappointed how this whole show unfolded this year. What Simon wants, Simon gets.

  5. I just watched it (have to wait until the next day) so I did NOT read any of your comments. I was surprised that the Frank Sinatra styled singer did not win. (Not my 1st vote). I really liked Tape Face and Victor, and the football player with the magic tricks (I don’t have names written down here). I also enjoyed the young gal who won and I don’t think it was the Taylor Swift that swayed it. Glad she won over the runner up!

All 10 (all 20?) final acts were incredible – I didn’t like some because I didn’t enjoy what they did but I felt that what they did they were superb at. Fixed? Nah, America voted and voted and voted!

I wish everyone could be required to vote their 1st choice and then their 2nd choice (or the vote wouldn’t count!). It would really be interesting to see those results!

  6. Simon. The only thing he ever got right was his infamous prediction of Carrie Underwood from Season 4.. That was spot on and came true.. And it still fathoms me the success of Taylor Swift, she is not a great singer…… and her song writing really….

  7. I think Simon got the whole country music industry behind Carrie and that’s how she won. They wanted to create the next big star. Everyone was shocked when Bo Bice lost to Carrie. But, she has been a great ambassador for Idol and a phenomenal role model for singers everywhere. Good for her

  8. There really was some excellent talent this year, and as cute as Grace V. Is, there were many people more talented. I wish her well, but can’t imagine her heading a Las Vegas show. My personal favorites were Link in Bridge and Brian Drum.

  9. Louise – they were my favorites as well. Plus Laura Bretan.

  10. Laura is extremely talented, extraordinarily so, but she is forcing her voice, and she really needs training. Another thing that bothers me about her – and I think she is super-talented, is that nobody explained to her the meaning of the words she sings. Singing is not just about “it’s a pretty melody and I can produce beautiful sounds”, the singer needs to interpret the words. She has passion for music and it shows, but she couldn’t care less about words. She is smiling throughout singing how she’ll throw herself into the river, and she is singing the last “pity” in “daddy, pity, pity” as if she is singing “I shall win” in Nessun Dorma, as a victory cry, not a request for pity. It doesn’t matter if it’s an opera aria or a pop song, if a singer plays Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi or just sings “O mio babbino caro” out of context, the words are not meaningless noise.

True, she is only 13, but I am not sure if any of you heard Patricia Janečková at around the same age. Here is also a talented child, but unlike Jackie and Laura, Patricia doesn’t try to sound older, sings with fantastic technique and interprets words even as a child.
Patricia at the age of 12, one year younger than Laura:

There are several videos of Patricia today as well, but I’ll leave it here.

  11. i never thought Bo Bice ever had a chance… And he was in the bottom 3 and almost left even before the win…. Carrie had it all, and America fell in love with her… From her audition I said there is your winner…… Think about it, she was the whole package.. Where is Bo today, sadly…… Anyone who has followed Carrie since her AI win, simply cannot deny she is the best in the business….

  12. In terms of success, she has out shined everyone. But there have been so many others that have been outstanding on AI. I think she was plucked out of the thousands who auditioned for the purpose of creating a Country Superstar on AI during Season 4. Good plucking. 👌

  13. I totally agree with you and some of the best singers did not win on their given seasons either…… Ones like David Archuleta, Adam Lambert, Katharine McPhee come to mind…. Carrie is the Whitney Houston of Country….. And she will be a legend like Reba and Dolly……

AI was her platform, what she learned there, so took with her and perfected it..
