After a two-week hiatus due to the Summer Olympics coverage, America’s Got Talent is back  on Tuesday, August 23rd and Wednesday, August 24th at 8:00 PM.

Here is a snapshot from AGT’s Wikepedia Page pertaining to this week’s performances:

I am rooting for the a Capella group, Linkin’ Bridge and singer Brian Justin Crum. But, in truth, I haven’t regularly watched the show this summer, so the other acts are not known to me.  I am sure they are all extremely talented. The talent level seems to rise with each passing season on this show. These performers are extraordinary to watch and the creativity always inspires.

Enjoy the show everyone and come and visit in the comments section.

  3. Past Idol Report:

I got to see one of my all time favorite Idol contestants, Siobhan Magnus, in concert last week here in Alabama. She has been in Muscle Shoals, AL for a while working on a new project covering songs from Dusty Sprinfield’s epic album “Dusty in Memphis.” This appearance was a showcase for that project and the tickets set me back $5.00 each! The crowd numbered just a few hundred and our table was front and center.

To flesh out the show she dug into the rich recording history of the Muscle Shoals area and included songs recorded there by Paul Simon, the Rolling Stones, Areatha Franklin and others. I was happy to see her continued interest and support of the great music from the past. She did justice to the songs she selected and shared some of the history of each piece before she performed them.

For me the highlight of the night was her rendition of “Ball and Chain” which was written by Alabama native Big Momma Thorton and made famous by Janis Joplin. It was unbelievably good.

She had her own band made up of young but pretty decnet local musicians. I know that she has plans to do a similars showcase back home in Cape Cod that will be simalcast on Stage-it. Check her web site for the schedule if you are interested.

Speaking of Stage-it, I happened to catch a Jessica Muse show on there last Friday. Jessica showed growth from her stint on American Idol. The bleating vibrato was gone and her vocals were pretty solid.

We considered going by Trent Harmon’s home / resturaunt, which is about an hour away from where we were but opted for a tour of the Alabama Nusic Hall of Fame which was well worth the time spent.

  6. Hi Hunter,
ou may remember when they did Trent’s backstory early in the season they said he lived on a farm and raised cattle and catfish. On the same property is a family owned / run resturaunt. Steak and catfish sounded pretty good but we missed it.

Have you ever used the stage-it web site to see a show by someone you liked? If not, it’s inteactive so that you can text with the artist while they are performing. Several past Idol have done shows on there and a few established artist like Bonnie Raitt and Sarah Barellis (sp)

  9. I was too Louise, especially in my own backyard.

The Stage-it event is tommorow night at 6:00 Central time. You have to do a brief sign up process and then buy tickets. I think this event is “pay what you can.” You can also tip during the event and text to the artist. It says that it’s only 30 mins but the show that I saw was over two hours. If you are interested check the link below.

  11. I think I spotted Jacob Lusk singing on a comercial for a Honda CRV. One singer is singing to the driver by her window that looks to be Jacob. Has anyone else seen this commercial?
I haven’t seen America’s Got Talent this season.
