Forget those wretched weight loss programs. Candice Glover is here to say that she lost 30 pounds while competing onSeason 12 American Idol – and without trying.

Yes, you read this correctly. According to an interview with People.Com, the hectic Idol schedule from January to May melted those nasty pounds into oblivion:

“Over the course of the show, from January to May, I probably dropped 20 lbs. And I’ve lost about 10 more since the finale,” Glover, 23, told PEOPLE Tuesday while rehearsing for the American Idol Live! 2013 Tour.

“It is always good to be healthy, so I am happy about it.”

But her weight loss hasn’t come from time in the gym. It’s a byproduct of Glover’s busy lifestyle as she rehearses for the tour and prepares her debut album, set to be released Oct. 8.

“I’ve always – well maybe I haven’t always – been comfortable with who I am. This weight is just dropping off because of my crazy schedule,” the season 12 winner said. “I just walk a lot in the airports, and then we are rehearsing the choreography. I call [the rehearsal room] the gym, to be honest.”

Yep, that’s what it takes! Just good old-fashioned exercise and an effort to eat sensibly and with moderation.

Her Idol peer, Burnell Taylor, experienced the same result as well and he is overwhelmed by his new look. He is healthy and trim and this has inspired him to keep his body at a healthy weight.

  1. I have followed Candice for 18 months and she’s a real nice young lady. I am so happy to hear this news. The tour will be even more hectic. It saddens me that so many shows were cancelled. This is good money for the kids. There just won’t be as much as in the past. I still don’t think Season 12 was quite as bad as many are saying. P.S. – I’d sure love to lose 30 pounds.
