[VIDEO] A Masterclass Performance: Kellie Pickler And Derek Dancing Their Freestyle

20130521-174146.jpgSometimes words cannot do justice to what you are about to see in the video below.

Last evening, Dancing With The Stars Season 16 Finalist, Kellie Pickler, delivered an absolutely brilliant dancing performance with her partner, Derek.

Derek wisely decided to “strip down” this performance in order to focus the viewers’ attention on the power of the dance.

And, this was incredibly powerful in every aspect – the choreographic elements were very difficult and, yet, so in tune with the emotional core of this number.

But, the full force of this powerful performance rested in the emotion that Kellie inhabited from start to finish. She was totally in the moment – not once did she look uncertain or unsteady. It was such a riveting artistic vision from start to finish.

Watch and keep those fingers cross that she wins this thing when the results are announced Tuesday night, because she has worked I credibly hard to reach this point and deserves the title.

  3. That was absolutely truly beautiful. Well done, Kellie & Derek. Well done!!

  4. Poetry in motion is a perfect way to describe this dance!

  5. What was their score?

  6. Congrats to Kellie and Derek – WINNERS of Season 16 DWTS! To respond to this post, not sure who cried more, Carrie Ann or me. I’ve never reacted to a dance as strongly as this one. Amazing.

  7. This was a beautiful dance and a thoroughly justifiable win. So happy for Kellie. She was brilliant throughout the season.

  8. Outstanding work all season and this dance was the icing on the cake. I’m so proud of Kellie. I thought it was a great season. Congratulations on winning the coveted mirror ball

You might say they scored 32 out of 30. Len raised his 10 paddle with his trademark “from Len, the 10” and then added “it should be 11. Bruno offered his ten paddle and then said “I agree with Len.” Carrie Ann was verclipsed but probably would have joined in for 33. It was the best performance that I can recall on DWTS.

  9. I was so happy for Kellie! She really deserved that win!!!

  10. Yay Kelli…She is so darn cute, and what a beautiful dancer!!!

  11. Here is the link to an article which explains how Derek and Kellie did that unbelievable move in their free-style dance . . .

  12. Louise – that was an interesting link. I was wondering how they pulled this off. Spectacular. Jaw-dropping. Talk about pushing yourself to the limits.

  13. Good article Louise. She looked like the figurehead on an old sailing vessel while in that position. It seemed impossible to lean as far as she did.

She reminded me of Peter Pan in other segments of the dance.

Did anyone see Kellie and Derek as well as well as Angie Miller on Kelly and Michael this morning?
