Last night’s show was a real blockbuster! There were so amazing performances that it really is hard to determine who will or will not take the American Idol crown this early in the game.

However, I will say that there are six singers in this competition who are real contenders and one who leads the pack.

If you need more clues to my picks, please treat yourself to my Top 13 Vocal Masterclass article. At this stage of the game, it is a shorter read for each singer, but, as the show moves forward, the evaluations will be more intensive.

Tonight’s guest performer is Season 10 Runner-Up, Lauren Alaina, so it will be great to hear her again.

And, in a new twist this year, there will be no bottom three. Ryan Seacrest will reveal the male and female who received the lowest number of public votes. Following this revelation, the judges will decide who will be eliminated and not.

I like this a lot. It is a diplomatic way to blend viewers and judges in the decision-making process.

Enjoy the show and hit the comments. Don’t be a stranger.

  1. I really wasn’t all that surprised that Jeremy was sent home. He seems like a really sweet boy, but only 10 can go on the tour. Actually, in any other season, I wonder if he would have gotten so far?

I will admit I was surprised Ericka was in the bottom 6. She has a terrifric voice. Song choice will make the difference for most of the contestants.

Did Lauren seem nervous to you? Maybe it was that song, but I felt all the girls this season have a better voice than she does. I will admit she has a great stage presence. Mary J. Blige did a nice job and she was a good mentor.
