Someone else has come out to play with teen heartthrob, Justin Bieber.

Canadian songbird, Carly Rae Jepson, has just been signed by Justin Bieber’s label, “School Boy Records”. Who knew he even had his own label? Talk about fast-forwarding a musical career.

I remember seeing Carly Rae on Canadian Idol. She wasn’t my favorite singer that year. I found her a teensy bit affected when she performed.

However, I can understand the appeal. She is current and has a distinctive sound. And, perhaps, the affectations that grated on me have disappeared over time.

According to RyanSeacrest.Com:

Jepsen’s hit single “Call Me Maybe” is No. 1 on the charts in her native country of Canada and is quickly catching on around the globe. Justin Bieber describes the song over twitter as, “possibly the catchiest song I’ve ever heard lol.” Jepson’s album “Curiosity” dropped on Tuesday. With the Biebs on board, we definitely see big things in the future for this young star.

Check out the video over at RyanSeacrest.Com. It is really cute and the ending is hilarious. Whoever thought up that one deserves a Juno or Grammy or some such award.

  1. As a point of interest,Carly Rae finished 3rd on S5 of Canadian Idol. I’ve heard some of her music since then, and I think she’s showing more maturity in her vocals, and as mentioned MCL,perhaps the annoying affectations that put you off, have faded from her performances. She wasn’t the strongest vocally, but I think she has a lovely voice, and frankly is no better or worse than some of the autotuned and digitally enhanced vocals we hear on records these days. The biggest reason I find to support her is she’s Canadian, and I think she has a real future in the business. I agree MCL,that video is classic,I’d vote for it on the MMVA’s(Much Music Video Awards),where BTW Justin Beiber has appeared the last couple of years to receive awards for his videos.
