This week, America’s Got Talent will be in Las Vegas, where the judges will select the acts to be featured on the Finale shows.  A number of singers captured my attention and some magical acts as well.

How about you? You must have favorites, so please add your comments and opinions before, during and after the shows this week.

Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli. When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. I sure like Nick! He really adds to the show. I cannot believe that he is married to Mariah Carey! whoa! There were so many that I like ~ so I cannot pick a favorite at this point. I sure like Luigi though ~ a natural performer.

  2. My favorite at this point is Michael Grimm–I think he’ll really impress everyone when he participates in the finals.

  3. I was surprised that Carlos did not make it to the Hollywood rounds…I do like the guy with the wild make-up…even with a cold he sang really well.

I don’t care for the lady who plays piano and sings (the older lady) there is alot better talent that got cut than she is…like the magician with the cards last night.

I like Michael too…I’m thinking that Piers, doesn’t like him so well though. I like the young blond girl too.

  4. I am really disheartened that the magician who expertly displayed his sleight of hand card tricks was eliminated. He was exceptional and had so much to offer. He looked like a star.

  5. MCL, I agree with you about the magician with the sleight of hand card tricks. He was so polished and professional. I was quite surprised that he didn’t make it through.

And there have been several acts which they advanced that I didn’t like at all–one is the older woman who sings and plays rather badly. What can the judges possibly be thinking? Another is the air guitar group. I honestly wasn’t that impressed with the actor who did impersonations the first week and the Monday morning routine tonight.

  6. I’m excited that my favourite group – “Fighting Gravity” made it through. These guys are amazing! I love light shows!

Howie’s comment yesterday to “Hannibal” (the opera singer) made me laugh: “IS that a giant cock on your head?” referring to a rooster he had on his head. Gotta love Howie!

  7. MCL and Louise…I soooooo agree with you guys! I loved the magician! I was really disappointed at some of the “talent” they put through and let the others go…like Howie (love him) said last night about the singers…I think we are going to let a superstar go (something like that) he is right some of those people deserved to stay on!

I am also confused as why Carlos was cut and the guy with the rooster on his head stayed???

  8. Louise – totally agree with you. Sometimes I wonder if they plant these less talented acts so the true winners will garner more votes. Either way, it is so unfair to the talented artists who are unfairly eliminated much too early in the competition.

I wonder if the “sleight of hand” magician was signed or snagged by a manager because of his performance at the auditions? He is exceptional.

  9. @Vonnie “I am also confused as why Carlos was cut and the guy with the rooster on his head stayed???”

Everyone is confused about it. Carlos is a better singer than either Poppycock or Hannybal. Every year they have these weird decisions, maybe it’s their way to be “unpredictable” or to keep the forums buzzing?

@bizzee247 “Howie’s comment yesterday to “Hannibal” (the opera singer) …. ”

While I agree with the rest of your post, I always cringe when people use the term “opera singer” to refer to these singers on AGT/BGT/other countries or popera singers in general. “Opera singer” is someone who performs on opera stages in live operas, WITHOUT MICROPHONES, and at a high standard required by professional opera, not to mention singing for the duration of a full opera while acting and without your voice waivering even once. In addition to having glorious voices, opera singers are like trained athletes. Carlos has an operatic voice, but he needs more training before he can even dream of a serious opera career. Until you see any of these singers actually performing on an opera stage even in a small role in a provincial opera theater, it’s wrong to call them that.

  10. I’m with you about Carlos being better than Hannibal–I was quite surprised that it worked out the way it did. A for Prince Poppycock, I do think he’s really talented although quite different!!! But I certainly can’t see him winning. The American public will never vote for him over some of the others.
