Ushering The American Idol Season 9 Top 10 To the Next Level

Usher and The Top 10

I am absolutely thrilled that Usher will be mentoring the Idols on Tuesday, March 30th during their Top 10 R&B performances.  I am hoping to see some keen and educational mentoring from Usher. He certainly comes equipped with a ton of performing experience mixed in with an artistic confidence that is truly singular.

Then, during the Results Show on Wednesday, March 31st, The  Man known as Usher will be performing live, along with individual performances by Diddy & Dirty Money and rising R&B star, Justin Bieber who hails from my home Country of Canada! Go Canada!

American Idol.Com has made it ever so convenient for you to have  a peek or a download of  available R&B songs on ITunes.  I am hoping that Usher will be able to refine the strengths and strengthen the weaknesses of each of the remaining singers.

Given the theme and the mentor,  I can envision a truly great show, one that may spotlight singers who have not had an opportunity to shine in a comprehensive manner.

  1. MCL…I love that you are excited about Usher being a Mentor!

I think it should be a very good show, the kids have some great music to choose from. Plus, I think Usher will be a great mentor and give these guys some great advice.

I’m going to go back to mj’s and re-read the list of songs and pick which one’s I like…not that it will make any difference in what they sing, Lol…I just like to give my 2 cents!!!

  4. MCL…Usher was on Good Morning America this morning, he gave a short interview, he will be back on there tomorrow doing their concert series, so he will be singing live from NY in the morning.

He was talking about owning his own recording studio and this young man Justin Bieber; who will be singing on idol wednesday night is his first artist to record in his studio.

I would love to hear Michael sing one of Luther Vandross’ songs…I can see him singing R&B post idol. His voice reminds me alot of Luther’s.

I can’t wait to see what the other contestants pick off of this list…there really are some great songs on there!

  6. I don’t think that’s the entire list of songs. It doesn’t include Proud Mary, for one thing. Unless that’s not an R&B song, which would be incredible to me.

  7. I just checked the entire list on itunes and Proud Mary isn’t on it. The list doesn’t comprise all r&b songs. There are a lot of great ones that just aren’t on that list for some reason. Anyway, no one could touch Tina Turner’s version of that song.

There is certainly a lot of material to choose from. The hard part is to pick the right song and either choose to sing it straight or change it up. Not an easy task at all! I am looking forward to hearing what Usher had to say to each of the contestants.

  8. It looks like Siobhan isn’t going to do “the note” tonight . . .

  9. louise,

That’s welcome news! But I think Siobhan is smart enough to know that she doesn’t need it. I kind of feel bad that she thought she needed that to make the tour.

I don’t think she necessarily has to never do it again, but it would be nice for her to leave it alone for a few weeks.
