H ere we go again. Another results night, another elimination. Any predictions? Well, I know it won’t be Adam or Danny – neither have been in the bottom 3. So, everyone else is “up for grabs”.

I am really looking forward to Jennifer Hudson’s performance this evening. What a roller coaster ride of heartbreak and fame this young lady has had to endure and still she survives with dignity and grace.  She is such an exceptional role model for everyone.

And then there’s Miley Cyrus! Oy! Double oy!  What an irritating excuse for talent this young lady has become. Sorry Miley fans, but she is just unbearable to watch -in interview segments and as a performer.

I am running behind here and hope to have my Masterclass article online early tomorrow.  And make sure you follow my Twitter updates to see how I am progressing with the article and with life in general. haha

However, the  Masterclass Doors are now open for business! Enjoy the show!

Oh – and don’t forget to download the Top 13 performances on I-Tunes. And, while you are there, catch a couple of songs from one of my three CDs. (shameless self-promotion – couldn’t resist. haha)

  1. Hey, MCL, I agree about Danny and Adam, but Kris Allen also has yet to be in the bottom hasn’t he? Just curious.

And about Miley Cyrus . . . I think I may have to respectfully disagree with you about her. I actually am looking quite forward to seeing her tonight. Her new song “The Climb” is simply amazing and has an excellent message. In fact, it is right near the top of the charts on iTunes. I admit that there are some of her songs I’m not crazy about, but there are a lot I enjoy as well. She’s only fifteen, you know, and for a fifteen year-old I think she has a lot of talent. There’s also a lot of room for growth as well. Honestly, I find a certain singer (who I will wisely not name) on this season “ubearable to watch” sometimes, but I try not to say that about him. I just think it isn’t giving credit where credit is due, and calling a fifteen year-old girl an “irritating excuse for talent” is a little harsh. Miley is very talented and really deserves a bit more respect I think. Please understand that I’m not trying to argue, MCL, but I just felt like standing up for Miley a bit. I’m tired of everyone slamming her in the media.

As for who is going home tonight, I think it will be either Anoop or Matt, though I hope it is Lil.

  2. ^ Miley is actually sixteen years old, but that doesn’t really affect your point. I just thought I’d point it out anyway, 😉

  3. LOL MCL. I don’t like Miley either…AT ALL. LOLOLOLOL.

Given the way the numbers break down gender-wise, I think the girls are safe. Lil was bad all around and Allison had a bad vocal but I think they’ll live to seen another week.

    Adam = Super safe

Danny=safe? maybe??? He’s never been in the b3, and I don’t know why not.

Matt & Anoop are in trouble. Predicting one of them will go. Matt had a bad vocal and Anoop sang well, but was forgettable. Each has made a trip to the bottom.

Kris in trouble too, but has never been in the bottom so less likely to go home. He is normally good, but was kinda flat and forgettable last night in a sea of ballads. It’s never good to be forgettable on these shows.

Hoping for a decent group number tonight!

  4. Adam Safe? think again

    Gokey 12.3 1-6
    Lil R 11.99 1-7
    Adam 10.79 1-7
    Anoop 9.83 1-7
    Allison 7.67 1-7
    Matt 6.02 1-7
    Kris 5.63 1-7

1-7 all possible bottom 3 interesting?

  5. Dial Idol had Kris in last place last week, but he didn’t even make the bottom 3.

Dial Idol also doesn’t consider text votes, which is huge because I think younger audiences would be more inclined to text. That would definitely skew the Dial Idol numbers.

  6. YES!!!! Matt didn’t go home, I’m just really glad they used the save on him! Considering last night Lil got all defensive and mad at the judges for “judging” her performance….cause we all know the judges aren’t supposed to do that….(Yah Matt!)

  7. So I’m on here time and time again and I have finally decided to comment! It only took me 7 seasons…..(or 6, not to sure when you started this website) BTW, it’s Shannon, MCL – ha!

So I missed AI tonight! As if the judges used the save tonight AND I MISSED IT! They would have been better off using it last week and saving Scotty! Disco week next week…

  8. I’m surprised the judges used the “save” tonight on Matt. He’s okay and seems really nice, but I really thought they were saving the “save” for Allison or Kris, if needed. I think it’s pretty obvious that Adam and Danny won’t need to be saved.

  9. MCL–I know this isn’t posted under the right topic, but I didn’t know where to post—
Have you heard Susan Boyle’s performance on Britain’s Got Talent? I’m really curious to learn your opinion.

  10. You know, when it was all said and done, I think the judges made a wise choice in using their save tonight. Matt Giraud has been a spectacular performer this entire season with admittedly a few rough weeks. However, considering Anoop or Lil would probably have gone home next week, I would rather the judges save Giraud than those two respectfully. I still wonder whether or not the save should’ve been used on Scott, but overall I am pleased with how the Judges’ Save was used this season. Kudos to Simon, Paula, Kara, and Randy! As for Miley, I am sorry to all her haters, but she delivered one heck of a performance tonight. Kudos to her as well!

Just one thing though . . . Disco week?! Uh . . . Well, that should be interesting to say the least.

  11. That post up above is really mine . . . Sorry! Gage is my brother, and he posted on here before me. LOL

  12. Dial Idol is seriously flawed. The raw numbers have been more accurate 2 weeks running. If you check the raw numbers Danny was b3 not top vote getter. The reason the dial score has been so wrong is because

    1) It doesn’t count all circuits busy or dead air. I am sure Kris and Adam had a lot of that.

    2) Text votes.

With no save all of the contestants need to be flawless. Disco week is always a difficult genre for most contestants.

My guess is next week we have a shocker!

  13. I still would have LOVED the save to be used on Scott last week. That said, it was good to save Matt. I disagree with Simon last night, in that I think Matt’s song worked MUCH better without the piano. Matt seemed more comfortable and the audience got to focus on the words. Much improved, so kudos to Matt! The judges got it right on this one.

I have a hunch that all the negative comments Lil is getting from the judges may be helping her in the voting. I thought she would go home, but it’s possible that her fans respond with a voting frenzy due to the negative comments. Maybe???

Disco week – Huh? I’m concerned about most of the contestants for this. Adam and Allison will be fine. Everybody else, I’m not so sure. We’ll have to wait and see. It should certainly be interesting and once again I have no idea what to expect.

That’s a good point you made about DialIdol, Audrey. You really do have to take it with a grain of salt. However, as a Danny fan, I feel compelled to remind you that along with Kris and Adam, Danny has yet to be in the Bottom 3 as well, so he is just as much a frontrunner as they are.

Audrey also wrote: “My guess is next week we have a shocker!”

You may be right about that, but I don’t think there will be much of a shocker. I predict that any two contestants out of Anoop, Lil, and Matt will go home. I really hope it is Anoop and Lil. If that happens, then America will have got the Top 5 right!

  15. The performance of Miley’s does not suit her, she is better off in the teenybopper scenario; the long, swinging hair, the cool duds. What y’all think of Jennifer Hudson? The both were pre-taped.~ I heard that the cheering for Matt to be saved were chanting, MATT, MATT, MATT so loud that it almost brought the roof down. Both Kara and Paula were cheering, raising fists and singing along. That Simon kills me. He makes good TV. The gall to say that he did not sing any better than the night before but at the next breath, “you are saved.” It reminds me of a revival of holy rollers. It was good TV.

  16. Hey Shannon!

Nice to see you on here. Was just speaking with Karen tonight – she is so busy that hasn’t had time to go on Facebook to see the videos. She needs to slow down, right?

Thanks for stopping by and saying “hi”. I agree about the “save” – should have been Scotty boy! Tsk! Tsk!

  17. MCL, I have to say I miss the days when I wasn’t sure who your favorite(s) were and you just gave fair commentary on the singing and performance, judging each contestant against himself or herself. What really set your blog apart before was your ability to look at each singer like a student paying you for lessons. (You were generous, constructive, and fair.)

It’s of course your choice to change things up however you see fit, but it does alienate some readers. I’m imagining back to season 5 when Taylor was my favorite (and yours, but you never said so during the competition). All of the fanbases felt like this was the safest, fairest place for commentary on ALL the singers. I don’t think they’d have felt the same if you were publishing pro-Taylor rants or anti-Ace rants.

I have about as little interest in Miley Cyrus as Scott MacIntyre (I’d turn either off instantly at this point), but they both obviously appeal to other people. Where’s the old spirit of every singer/performer has something to give, but their talent just needs to be honed and polished? That attitude got you a devoted following for a reason.
