American Idol Daily: Dawn of the David Archuleta

I found this great article from the Los Angeles Times about David Archuleta. The journalist talks about David’s enormous talent and sincere persona and reaffirms the fact that David is on the road to superstardom.

For thousands of fans, however, he is already there. Yet, there are so many opportunities on the horizon that this CD, although extremely successful, is merely the beginning. It is a crystal ball, shall we say, foretelling David’s abundant future in the music industry.

My favorite quote from this article lies here:

But however things turn out for this album, as one who watched this young phenom burst upon the Idoldome, it has been incredible to to see his legend explode — from the “Idol” stage and on the national tour as tens of thousands made the rafters of stadiums quake with their their screams. And through it all, the boy from Murray amazingly remained seemingly untouched by the nuclear blasts of adoration. To all appearances, from the little I had the chance to interact with him, he stayed the same nervous, unfailingly polite, pathologically modest and humble lad he was when he first arrived at the Idoldome.

  1. I posted this elsewhere a few weeks ago and I think appropriate to bring here for this post regarding the LA Times article (thanks to this reviewer – at least someone from the Times has the sense to “get” David)

When I first found my self interested in finding out more about David after American Idol I “stumbled” across many things that startled me. I had not been into the Pop culture of today. I was shocked when tooling around iTunes searching for anything David I saw all of these songs with the words “explicit” next to them. I started to listen to the pop stations waiting to hear Crush (still waiting for local LA to play) and could not believe some of the lyrics I was hearing over the airwaves and the same goes for much of the comments from the DJ’s. When viewing websites I could not believe some of the inappropriate comments that were made – by all types of people young and old. Well I am not one to usually speak up about such things – most of us do not – we “silently” object “- while we passively watch society denigrate. Then comes along David Archuleta. He unexpectedly gave us a way out just by being simply who he is. We can help change society back to what it should be – not by complaining over the negative but by simply being champions of David’s positive morals and character, by being champions of good music, by being champions of humility and respect.

The music and entertainment industry please take note – David Archuleta is going to be a superstar and this will be superstardom “done right”!

  2. Doc…thank you for posting this here. I would have missed it otherwise.

I agree with you completely. I believe it would mean enough to David to promote his music and champion his artistry but I feel honored to promote this young man as you so eloquently said …

  3. I love all of david’s songs but this one words OMG what could you even say. He wrote this at the age of 14. His voice and the words are WOW. It just moves you so much. Some one made a video with this song that just moves me to tears. Because we see the things that are going on with our children, he could be singing this about any one of our children. It is a song that is so ture for many people out there the way the world is going. This song for me I think is the best of the best.
