Jason Castro Performs In Texas And He Is “Crazy” Good!

Y‘all are not going to believe this, but does this sound like the shy, timid Jason Castro of American Idol fame?

Below, you will hear and see a new and improved Jason perform the Gnarls Barkley hit, “Crazy”. Listen to his soulful vocals – the timbre is so rich and full, it resonates freely throughout the room. He has obviously grown and matured as an artist and has fully internalized a much needed boost of confidence in his stellar vocal ability.

His voice sounds so open and focused now and, as a voice teacher, I fully appreciate and applaud how hard he has worked to further refine the technical projection of his voice. He loves those pure vowels now – cherishes them, actually – and he cohesively molds his voice throughout the melodic line with increased assurance and consistency.

But, it is the nucleus of his soul that I feel more than anything else in this performance. This is a sensitive and intuitive young man and I am so happy that his career is continuing to move forward, as it deservedly should!

Special thanks to ReReader for making me aware of this video! 🙂

  1. Thanks for the great review, MCL!
It really is amazing how far Jason has come in such a short time.
Have you seen the videos of his new songs from the A&M show? They’re incredible! I love them!

  2. MCL, I am so happy to read these wonderful words of praise. There is no one this year that moves me like Jason did last year! He was one of the reasons I saw the concert tour.

Oh, there are several talented singers in Season 8, but I have no real desire to see the concert tour. I do see Adam having success beyond AI; maybe in more than one arena of entertainment.

ReReader, I can’t view the video right now, but maybe I will when I get back to my daughter’s house. It is on my “to do” list!

Did I say how happy I am to hear Jason is growing both personally and as a singer!

  3. MCL – I posted this a while back but I don’t know if you ever saw it. I thought I’d re-post it just in case. This is courtesy of the one and only David Archuleta.

Here’s “My Hands” performed on March 7, 2009!

Your original criticism on this song was not being able to understand the lyrics. In this performance, the lyrics and concept of the song were much easier for me to understand. Patricularly watch for the crowd interaction and listen to the ending! Your thoughts?

I’ve been very impressed with Jason’s rapid growth as a performer and as a composer–thanks for putting my feelings into words in such a thoughtful way.

  6. You are welcome Rereader. It really helps when fans send me information. My days are so full that I have little time to surf the web for new and interesting material. So, thank you for researching these Jason performances. I really appreciate this so much.

  7. Jason was my favorite last season and I miss him this season. He was a true amateur but I knew he possessed something very special. I heard it straight off the jump with Daydream.

He is quite the song writer too.

Just wait until his cd is out. I fully believe he is going to pull a Daughtry and be the best selling Idol from season 7. He is fresh, now, current and no one sounds like Jason Castro.

  8. YAY! I got to hear Jason’s song! Now, he sang this on tour, right? The reason I ask is that there were so many girls screaming, I wasn’t quite sure. Hahaha…

    Thank you ReReader!
