Fashion icon and multi- faceted celebrity, Gloria Vanderbilt, has died at the age of 95. She was also the mother of CNN journalist, Anderson Cooper.
She lived an extraordinary life, with multiple tragic events mixed in to her glamorous and legendary journey.
She was an absolute visionary in the arts world and, despite her struggles, carved out a name for herself on her own terms.
I think, however, her greatest gift was nurturing and guiding what would be one of the greatest journalists of our time, CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
And I think she would agree.
Because, one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is our wisdom, love and guidance, rooted in impeccable integrity and ethical beliefs.
This was indeed her legacy and all one has to do is watch Anderson Cooper on a regular basis to realize this. He is both his Mom and his Dad – both of whom were stellar role models for him.
Indeed, her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren were guided by her uncompromising principles and, because of this, her legacy and her spirit will remain intact for years and generations to come.
On behalf of the MCL Community, our deepest condolences are extended to Gloria Vanderbilt’s family and friends. May her memory bring you peace and strength in the days ahead.
If you haven’t purchased their book, The Rainbow Comes And Goes, please do so. It is just excellent. Here is the link to Apple Books and Amazon.

Loved the book! So sad for Anderson, she was all he had left after the early death of his father and his brother’s suicide. Sigh.
