Vocal MasterClass Discussion For The Voice Season 13: The Battle Rounds Parts 3 and 4

The Battle Rounds conclude this week on The Voice at 8:00 PM on Monday, October 23rd and Tuesday, October 24th on NBC at 8:00 PM.

I have been reading that the ratings are down and everyone is blaming Jennifer Hudson.  Say what?  I love her. Some people don’t like her coaching style and refuse to watch.

So, I found a video clip of Jennifer with her team and – colour me confused – because I can’t see where the problem lies. She seems genuine and caring. Check this out below:

You see what I mean?  Am I missing something here?  Let me know in the comments section how you feel about this.

I was also happy to see two female artists, Moriah Formica and Shiko Gold, covering Burton Cummings/ The Guess Who’s song, American Woman.  Although it was a formidable duet,  I prefer a male artist performing this song. It was  little over the top for my taste.

My suggestion?  Dig a little deeper into the Burton Cummings songbook. A great, great song for a country artist – or any artist really – is Break It To Them Gently. Great melody and wonderful lyrics.  How about Dream Of A Child or My Own Way To Rock?  Stop looking for the same ole, same ole.

Enjoy the shows everyone.

  1. I love Jennifer Hudson! But my favorite female judge without a doubt was Alicia Keys. Really don’t care much for Miley. Kelly Clarkson would be good, I think.

  2. I hate it when they show montages. Cut the behind-the-scenes fat and there’d be time to show all the performances and treat viewers to more music.

  3. I just read that Kelly Clarkson AND Alicia Keys will be judging the Voice in the spring. That should be a wonderful season!!!
