And so the beginning of the end of a musical legacy premieres this week on Wednesday, January 6th from 8:00 – 10:00 PM.
American Idol, The Farewell Season, will kick off in grand style in Denver and Atlanta, showcasing some of the best auditions in the Preliminary Auditions.
Of course, all your favorites are set to make this Farewell Season a sentimental and bittersweet journey, including host Ryan Seacrest, who is the only major star to remain with the show since Day One.
Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. will return as judges. Plus all former judges, including the original panel that consisted of Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, and Randy Jackson are all confirmed to make an appearance sometime in the season.
So, suffice it to say, there are many wonderful, nostalgic moments in store for the Idol viewers and I, for one, do not want to miss one moment of this season.
Why?
Because, this is the show that launched this blog, among many others throughout the blogosphere. We are here because of American Idol and, although many blogs have evolved above and beyond this show, we owe our online presence to the success and fanbase culled from the contestants from American Idol. So, thank you American Idol, for adding relevance to and continuity for our websites and blogs.
And, this is the show that changed the landscape of the music industry by discovering major stars in every season, including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert, David Cook, Chris Daughtry, David Archuleta, Katharine McPhee, Taylor Hicks, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, the list is endless…
So, this week, we are about to discover the unearthed talent in Denver and Atlanta during the Farewell Season. I will be selecting early picks in a separate article – uninfluenced by the plethora of spoilers which I assume are all over the blogosphere. I want to give the singers their due based on their preliminary audition because it seems the fair way to acknowledge talent without bias.
So, I will be a mini judge here and hope you will be as well via the comments section below this article or in my “Early Picks” article to be published after the show airs.
Have fun one and all. Watch the show with your heart and mind and revel in one last ride on the American Idol machine.
I’m somewhat surprised at the sadness I feel, realizing the end is upon us. So many great (and not so great, lol) memories!
