So, put on your jammies, light the fire, get the hot chocolate brewing and snuggle up for another great Holiday offering from NBC, Kelly and friends.
Will you be watching? I will, of course, and recording it for replay over the Christmas season.
Below, you will find a humorous video, featuring Kelly, Blake, Reba et al getting ready to film the show. Oh Blake – you are such a tease!
Loved the singing but the script left a lot to be desired. The trio of Kelly Trisha and Reba doing “Silent Night” was outstanding as was Kelly’s “White Christmas.” I wish Blake would opt out of Christmas specials in the future.
I thought Kelly’s acting during the shelter scene was very good. The scene where she blackmailed Reba and Trisha into singing with her on the show was funny and well acted but inappropriate for a Christmas special. I did get a kick out of Kelly’s ill received thumbs up after the song with the other lady’s. The expression on her face was “so Kelly.”
All of the songs in the special are from Kelly’s new Christmas album “Wrapped in Red.”

Gene -I haven’t watched it yet. I was drawn in to a Sandy Hook special on CNN and couldn’t change the channel. So sad. These parents and family members on on such a tough, tough road. My heart goes out to them.
I will watch it soon, however, I knew the singing would be great and I was intrigued with the title but it sounds like the latter is disappointing. Oh well… Thanks for commenting and letting me know what to expect. :):)

I didn’t see the special that you watched but my heart goes out to the parents and community as well. No one should have to endure the loss of a child, much less so many for no reason.
Don’t let me discourage you from watching it. The singing was a real treat. Kelly is mature and confident and at the top of her game and it really comes through in this special. It has a good mix of classics and up and or modern Christmas songs. I’ve never seen her better.
The emotion she can convey both in her voice and facial expressions, reaches out and grabs me. She also fires a vocal shot across Carrie’s (Maria’s) bow with a big band jazz rendition of “My Favorite Things” that was outstanding. There is also very good musicianship from the band throughout the show.
Some of the skit portion is pretty funny too; The Leno interview was another part that I liked. You may like more of the skits than I did, but I’m pretty confident that you will love the vocal performances

Gene – overall it was just an. okay special to me. I love Kelly but she over sings to the point of shouting and I can’t listen to her too long because of this.
The skits were silly, I thought. I didn’t like the tone throughout – just a very bad schematic for a Christmas show. Script was too abrasive.
I wish Kelly would tap into her head voice more when she approaches her power notes. She needed to do this very much so when she sang “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”. This is such a tricky song to sing and her approach did. It work, especially at the end.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but I was hopping for a better “feel” when I watched this show. Very disappointed.
