MasterClass Video Of The Day: Beyonce’s Dressing Room Performance

I haven’t had an opportunity to view Beyonce’s heralded stripped-down dressing room version of her new single, “1+1”.

However, when I listened to it this evening, I wish I had treated myself to this gem of a performance a few days ago. The song was recorded by her husband, Jay-Z, prior to her American Idol performance last Wednesday.

To say her singing was brilliant was an understatement. It is difficult to summarize and address the exceptional beauty of this acoustic performance.

Beyonce’s passion and artistry combined with the pitch perfect harmonic vocals of her background singers left me speechless.

To hear her vocalizing with such exquisite style and substance, without the assistance of fancy mikes and/or auto-tune, gives me hope for the future of vocal arts.

Special thank you to her husband for sharing this intimate performance of his wife to the world for all to cherish.

  1. I really don’t have words for this. I thought her performance on Idol was stunning, but this is nothing shy of brilliance. She doesn’t need to release these crazy produced songs. She has a spectacular voice. Singers like Beyoncé and Adele are definitely keeping the hope alive inside of this 18-year-old who is seriously disappointed by what’s become of pop music and radio.

MCL, if you haven’t already seen, there’s a performance by Adele (not nearly as raw and intimate as this Beyoncé spectacle) singing on a rooftop and she sounds spectacular. Here’s the link if you would like to check it out!

  2. Also, (not trying to take away from this beautiful Beyoncé video — just want to share the love of fantastic female artists that can actually sing!), there’s this performance by Adele in her home of her song “Someone Like You” that’s beyond wonderful.

Anyway, I’ll say it again, words cannot describe Beyoncé’s dressing room performance. Her vocal chops are amazing.
