About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

I found this “Angels” video that was added today, and I haven’t seen it so I ASSUME it was shot in Baltimore. He sounds really strong to me. MCL, I’m not asking you to review it. You’ve done so much. Of course, comment if you like, but I mostly just wanted to post it because so many of us are interested in David’s journey and his well-being.

Oh thank you Kathy. I must see and hear it, so here goes my review.
My – he does sound spectacular. Now, I wish I could see him. But, his vowels sound focused and pure and his lower voice sounds more resonant than in some of the previous shows.
His voice certainly does soar, doesn’t it? Finally – shot of the large screen on the “yeah, yeah” part and he sounds spectacular. Oh darn – the video cuts out after this. The next section is what I really wanted to hear – but thanks again for sending this, Kathy. It is very much appreciated.

MCL, I have to confess, and this is going to sound a little blasphemous (well, that’s too strong of a word), that I’m getting a little tired of this tour! I’m ready for the solo careers to begin!
The only Cookie crumb I’m going to post is not one of his showcase songs, but a morsel of “Time of My Life”:
And, honestly, I’m only going to post that as an excuse to post the following blog from Regie Hamm, the song’s writer and composer:
http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=54139274&blogID=423067994
PLEASE read this if you get the chance. It’s as moving a story as I’ve read in a very long time. In a nutshell, it’s about a guy who once had a promising music career himself, but lost it while he tried to care for a chronically ill child. And then, when he was feeling like he was at the end of the line, he won the Idol songwriter’s competition.
I’m not doing it justice at all, and in a way it reminds me of David’s ten year struggle to make it in music himself. But, I will say this, after reading this story I actually feel guilty for having mocked Mr. Hamm’s lyrics, “magic rainbow” and all.

Hey Against:
I hear ya! I feel like I am performing with them every night, but it’s a fun ride.
I have to say, though, I am curious to see if their momentum picks up in the final week of the tour. We may be in for some surprises yet.
Thanks for the videos, though!
Frogcooke: Thanks for the videos. Will have a listen a bit later on.

Yeah, MCL, I think it would be nice if they had maybe a ten day break in the middle of the tour to, FIRST AND FOREMOST, let their voices recover and, second, revise their sets. It would breathe such new life into the second half of the tour if starting in mid-August, Cook’s set began to include “Always Be My Baby”, Archie did “Imagine, Jason sang “Hallelujah” etc. They could all sing a couple new songs and still retain their more popular ones.
Also, MCL, if you can, do read Regie Hamm’s blog that I linked to above. You won’t be disappointed (or without a wastebasket full of Kleenex!)….

Againstthedyingofthelight -I was beyond tears when I read this. I was in shock and still am. And why? Because this is one of God’s miracles and it is huge.
To think that so much happiness could evolve from so much tragedy and to think that both elements were connected in such a spiritual manner gives one pause for thought.
Thank you so very much for making me aware of this heartrending, inspirational story.
Is this story common knowledge on the internet? I want to write a article about it.

MCL, Regie’s story is making its way around the Idolsphere, and some people have made attempts to get it to a wider audience, by submitting it to newspapers and news stations, morning shows, etc. But, if you write for more mainstream publications than AI-related media, then you may be just the person to get it out there because it’s a story that deserves to be heard. But, even if you only wrote a blog entry, that would be wonderful too, because I’m sure some of your readers aren’t aware of this beautiful, touching story yet.

AgainstTheDying – I will get on it sometime today. I have an appointment this morning and some errands to run, but I will most definitely get this story out there. It needs to be heard. It is a life-changing experience – for Regie and his family and for all of us.

Jason sounds excellent, doesn’t he? Listen to his upper notes on the word “crazy”. Crystal clear and pure – he really grabs the purer “eh” vowel in the diphthong “aye” in the word “crazy”.
Very abbreviated video version, but it was enough for me to hear the ringing clarity of Jason’s voice. Good one!
