Hi MCL,
I posted a question during your liveblog, but unfortunately it not get answered. No worries there as I know there a whole slew of us chattin’ away tonight!
So I wonder over here to ask it…hope you do not mind ;)!
I was wondering you feel that this years Idols (and specifically our lovely friend, David) have “raised the bar” to a whole new level for next year’s idols and in future years? In relation, how do you think the judges will respond to next years “crop” of Idol contestants, knowing the talent that came through and the success of this years Idols?

Thanks MCL for the great interview at fanblast. I was there for it and I had some very important questions. You mentioned David asked you to help him with his upper or high range. He said he did not feel good about it. Did you two come up with a session or two or what did you decide together about that? You did mention that you told him that he would be fine after the tour. He just was on a lot of stress right now and that was why he felt that way, but that he did not need to worry. Anyway, just wondering what his plans for that is with you. Also, how many minutes a day do you think or know that he spends on warming up for each concert. Dean Kaelin mentioned that David calls him every concert night to get warmed up. Is that something he will always need a vocal coach for? Is that a common thing with all professional singers, to need a warming up before any recording or concert session? And that high range..you said as he matures he will need to have training in keeping his high range. That’s funny, because I had a discussion with a David Archuleta NOT fan, who said that as soon as David matures he would lose the high note ability and would no longer be a good singer. I did not know how to respond to that. And my husband has mentioned how David has to struggle with some high notes, and he compared Ryan Tedder’s ability to hit those high notes on Apologize much easier than David even though he is a bit older. My husband seems to feel that great singers are able to sing in a wide range-meaning they can hit really low notes as well as really high notes. And he has mentioned that David does not seem to have that wide of a range. I really trust my husband’s music knowledge. He admires great singing artists like Alison Kraus, Bruce Springsteen, Martina McBride, Lyle Lovitt for their pure sound , so it struck me as strange that he noted this about David, even though he does like his voice very much, he just complained about his range, which I thought was interesting since David himself didn’t sound very happy about this either. Is this because his voice is changing and getting lower and he has had to struggle with the high notes lately and is a little worried? Yet, you taught us on fanblast that as he matures he will need training to help him retain the upper range, as is with all maturing professional singers. So, some singers just don’t get that needed training and lose it? And you made it sound like David is so highly professional that he will make sure to get the training to keep the high range. My feelings after listening to you and Dean is that David is indeed changing in his voice and he is a little uncomfortable still with the change and that seems totally natural to feel that way. But, also , since David is so disciplined, he will get the necessary correct training to help him through this phase. And also, I get the impression from you that many artists never complete that phase, and they lose the range and it is detrimental. Please, can you help me clarify this.

Lynnslocum – thank you for your concern about David. He is going to be just fine. All singers struggle wth different vocal issues and the general public is not even aware of the struggle when one performs as exceptionally well as David.
He just mentioned to me his concern for his upper notes and I explained to him that the rigors of the tour are probably taxing his energy. When the body is depleted, it is hard to maintian the energy night after night to technically support one’s voice properly.
However, I feel that David’s technique is deeply ingrained and he will continue to sing superbly for the rest of the tour.
He misses his regular sessions with Dean and I told him that, once the tour is completed, he can establish a normal rehearsal routine with him.
I’m telling you too much now – I have to complete my “After-Party” blog yet! haha
But, no, he didn’t schedule sessions with me – I want to dispel this rumor up front. Dean is a remarkable teacher and David’s vocal progress is the result of Dean’s hard work and David’s work ethics and sublime talent
