I attended the concert in Rochester last night, my American Idol Season 7 is now officially over.
I really enjoyed the show, our seats were about 3 feet from the stage barriers and we could see all of the Idols perfectly. I watched one of the youtube videos Frogcooke posted and several people commented about how subdued the audience was. It’s always that way here, I’ve never been
able to quite put my finger on why. Polite applause, listen, polite applause. The review in our paper this morning was not kind, he called it ” American Karaoke “, what a snob. Jason and Syesha
received standing ovations after their sets and the audience stood the entire time for both of the
David’s, like I told someone earlier in the day, Rochester audiences may not scream or applaud the longest or the loudest but we have big hearts and it was evident on the faces of the people that I could see in the crowd, they were very happy. All of the Idols sounded much better live and their
stage personas have greatly improved since the tour started.

Chikezie – Adorable, very animated and really moved well around the stage. I commented to my daughter that his clothes needed pressing and she rolled her eyes at me.

Ramiele – Tiny, very cute and she perfomed beautifully.

Michael Johns – Not as tall as I thought, very refined facial features and strikingly handsome. He sang great. I commented to my daughter that I didn’t care for his shoes, more eyerolls….

Kristy Lee – She’s a beautiful girl, her outfit was stunning and I think she thought she was singing to the living dead ( maybe that’s our problem here and we don’t realize it ). She spoke beautifully and ” God Bless the USA ” was very well received.

Carly – First surprise of the night for me. She looks terrific, I think she must have lost some weight and has a new softer haircut. Maybe it was my imagination but I think her right arm with all the tatoos may have been covered up with something to diminish its appearance. Her outfit was funky and she looked great in it. She moved around the stage with ease and to me seemed the most
comfortable of all of them doing her thing. She seems to have lost the scrunched up facial expressions when she goes into the power notes and overall I think she performed all of her songs extremely well. I hope that she finds her niche, she is extremely talented.

Brooke – Second surprise of the night for me. I always liked her singing and personality but last night she sounded fabulous on ” Let It Be “, rich, full and she really connected, to me at least. She’s very pretty and delicate looking but I didn’t think the clothing she wore did anything for her. I think we’re going to be hearing lots more from Brooke, at least I hope so.

Jason – This young man has a special place in my heart and always has. I never thought he had the best singing voice or stage presence but there is just something about him. He did not move around the stage, sat on a stool or stood on the runway with his guitar and just sang and touched me and made me feel glad, I just had this big smile on my face the entire time. His banter was adorable and I just overall loved his set. I’m a fan of his for life.

Syesha – She looked quite glamorous all done up in a very pretty gold dress with FABULOUS shoes, a stunning woman. She moved around effortlessly and sang beautifully. ” Listen ” was astounding.
I think she’ll be around a long while and I look forward to following her career.

David – The audience FINALLY went wild, ( if only for a minute…oh well…maybe it’s something in our water supply ) I was just so happy seeing him being elevated up onto the stage and he sounded divine. No surprises here except, if it’s possible, he sounded so much better live. He moved with ease and the dance moves on SBM were awesome. He spoke to the audience from his heart and genuinely seemed so grateful. I adore this kid, great, great, great. I could have listened to him all night long. Can’t wait for the single and then his CD, they cannot come soon enough for me. I had a couple of tears running down my face after WYSYLM, when he stretches his arm out and sings I LOVE YOU….killer. He’s an angel, I am besotted.

David Cook – Biggest surprise of the night. Huge applause, I think he took the popularity contest here. He was all done up in his rockstar apparel, the eyeliner freaked me out a little but overall he looked very fine indeed. I always recognized his talent, just not my personal favorite, but I have to say that this man can sing and perform like no ones business. He sounded great, I really, really enjoyed it. His voice cracked a couple of times but it didn’t seem to matter much, to me anyway. He knows how to work the audience and moved about effortlessly and his banter was equally entertaining. I was VERY IMPRESSED, good for him and I don’t think there’s probably much question about his future success, I look forward to it.

I guess that’s it, my daughter and I had a great time.

MCL – So glad you enjoyed the show in Toronto, can’t wait to read more of your comments and thanks again for everything.
