Hi! I have just returned from the Joe Louis Arena – Detroit concert. I have never done a recap before, so I am sorting out my thoughts. I just want you to know that it was a WONDERFUL concert, well-worth the money! There was so much energy in the air and the Idols were feeling the love.
MCL, I think you’re going to have a blast. I didn’t get to meet any of the Idols or fellow Jason lovers, but what a good time we had. I ended up going with my daughter, and she can whistle like a guy! lol.
When will my hearing return? BBL

The Detroit concert was a huge success!
Chikezie looked like he was having the time of his life. What a crowd pleaser, putting on a Red Wings jersey. His high energy started the show with a bang. He said he was honored to be in the city, saying Detroit fans showed more love than any other city. “I love you, Detroit.” Does he say this in every city?
Ramiele Malubay was a total surprise. She got a huge welcome and you could tell she was feeling the love. She actually did a good job and had some power in her voice. I liked her more in the concert than I expected.
Michael Johns connected with the audience in his reference to Detroit Red Wings’ recent Stanley Cup Championship win. His ‘Queen’ medley had the crowd screaming. He looked and sounded like an established recording star.
Kristy Lee Cook was OK. I just felt like any other girl could be in her spot. Yes, she is pretty but her singing was rather ordinary. She does want to please.
Carly Smithson has had a make-over and is more attractive. Her singing reminds me more of Grace Slick than Heart. Yes, she has many fans. We each have our opinions of the Idols; I want so much to like her.
Brooke White is just such a sweet, likeable person. She received a great welcoming applause and the audience was pleased with her performance. She has mentioned some throat problems, but she sounded just fine to me. Loved “Let It Be.” I wish she had sung a duet with Jason.
Jason Castro is such a sweet, charismatic guy. Laid back as expected. I loved his ukulele-driven “Over the Rainbow.” I am curious about the length of his performance; it seemed rather short compared to others. I wanted to hear more from this talented, unique guy.
Syesha Mercado is very polished; her set very professional. What a terrific voice. Yes, I can see her on Broadway or Las Vegas. I loved her hair, and her dress certainly showed off her assets. Diva? Well, she expects you to love her.
David Archuleta’s performance was awesome. What a crowd pleaser he is. The girls went wild with thunderous applause and screaming. I was so impressed with his version of “Stand By Me.” It was my favorite performance of the night. Let me tell you, he got the biggest, longest standing ovation after this song. He wanted to talk, but the applause just kept coming. David seem so genuinely happy and was more confident than on the show. I thoroughly enjoyed what I could hear.
David Cook proved he can definitely rock! Excellent, polished performance. He was confident and has a professional stage presence. My favorite song was “Hello” – what a voice. There was a loud standing ovation for an encore to sing Billie Jean. Very cool…
I wish there was another group performance. Detroit fans put out the welcome mat and were very, very loud. I will say the ticket price was well worth it for an evening of high energy and good entertainment!

Y/W. One thing, the time goes by much too fast. I just can’t imagine not having a good time. It did help that we had no screaming fans in front or at our side; however, the girls behind us were very loud! It took about 24 hours to get my hearing back. LOL.

All 3 of Jason’s songs from Detroit, from different sources:
“Over the Rainbow”, uploaded by Kristen8108; “Crazy”, uploaded by holeighannie; and “Daydream” from the same uploader. From what I’ve heard from people who’ve been to the concert, the audience is singing along with Jason whether or not he’s asking them to!
