Vocal Masterclass Discussion Thread For American Idol Season 7 Top 10 Gals

Similar to last evening, I was unable to see the Top 10 female performances; however, I did manage to capture the recaps at the end of the show.

The ladies seemed in fine form, but it is so difficult to gain a full assessment of their performances from a 15 second clip.

So, readers, I am once again asking for your opinions on this week’s Top 10 performances.  Who were your favorites and who did the judges seem to favor in their comments?

Vocal of the night for me definitely went to Carly Smithson. Her allergies and the flu must have really affected her in the past because her high notes sounded MUCH better in this performance than they have ever been.

Well, the show wasn’t too great last night I thought. I think the vocal of the night went to Brooke White – she was the only one who picked the perfect song for her – “You’re So Vain” by Carly Simon. She was the only one whom the judges gave unanimous praise to. Most of the rest, notably Kady, Asia’h, and Alaina suffered from bad song choices. Carly showed her rock side and was pretty good though, and even though Alex Lushington was ripped apart by Simon, I don’t think she was that bad.

Here’s a YouTube channel where you can listen to the performances without AI chatter – but the full show will be up later, I’m sure.

Brooke singing “You’re so Vain” really caught my attention. I love the song and it suits her so well, so I was happy that the judges applauded her for it.

Glad to hear that Carly performed much better this week. Good for her.

It will be an interesting results show. Anything can happen. The only sure thing is that David Archuleta will be remaining.

I missed last night, but just watched some of the recaps on youtube :). I agree that Syesha was amazing! I felt bad for Asia’h, she was so sick but managed to pull it off. I felt the beginning was a little weak, but really picked it up at the end.

MCL, I am with you that David A. will be remaining tonight…now lets see who will be joining him!
