  3. Ok, I’m freaking out. Our cable went out and I missed about half an hour of the show tonight. Part of what I missed was Blake’s performance with Doug E. Fresh. I’m sooooo ridiculously frustrated right now.

  4. For me, the highlight of the show tonight was Gladys Knight with Lakisha and Melinda! Wonderful!!! Melinda was great with the Wayans too. And, of course, I was also very happy to see Taylor too!!! The African children’s chorus was a real treat too.

  5. My favorite parts of the finale were Melinda’s performance with Bebe and Cece Winans, Carrie’s I’ll Stand By You, and the medley with the top twelve and the past Idol winners.

  6. My favorite part of the finale was the tribute to Motown music and the Beatles music. This Baby Boomer was danicng in her living room! I enjoy the performances by each of our former Idols. If one had to be missing, I am glad it was Fantasia (sorry).

  7. Hey everyone.

I had an Idol party here tonight, so it’s late. I will post my last Masterclass article tomorrow. It was a superb show, wasn’t it?

My favorite moment? Taylor all by himself, but, hey, I’m not biased or anything. Ha!

I was hoping that the Top 12 would do a medley by themselves, but the show really was jam packed with lots of great performances.

  8. My favorite performance was Tony Bennett. At 80 he can still SING.

  10. Highlights for me: Gladys, Tony, Taylor, Melinda/Winans, Blake dueling with Fresh, LaKisha and Melinda singing great and looking HAPPY; Carrie the work horse of AI and last but not least Smokey Robinson. Oh and a surprise to me – I really enjoyed Sanjaya.

Lowlights: continued sound issues, Bette Midler 😯 , Kelly (the true rocker of AI) looking scary and shredding her wonderful voice, Clive *snore*, Gwen Stefani – IMO go back to No Doubt, Green Day – save Darfur! (but screw the rest of people suffering under despots).

  11. Randi,

Look on Go Fish and You Tube for the songs you missed. They will likely be there.

  12. Melinda and Lakisha delivered with their performnace with Gladys. I loved the guys singing together but would have like to see a medley of ALL 12 singers instead of Gwen. Knowing that Jordin was going to win took out some of the excitement of the evening. I hope she takes some vocal lessons to help with her breathing and delivery.

I mentioned that Bette made the mistake of seeing up to the audience because it interfered with her delivery and voice production. I know you have the explanation MCL, now someone asked me why? Can you help?

    Thanks,
    Kari

  13. Kari – I am having trouble understanding what you want me to address re Bette’s performance. Did you mean “singing to the audience?”
