Video Of The Day: Clay Aiken On Jay Leno
I just found this video this morning and it put a smile on my face. I happened to miss Clay Aiken’s appearance on Jay Leno, but, I have to say, this guy is a so funny and so talented.
Check out the beautiful head voice that he uses at the beginning of his performance of his new single, “On My Way Here”. Stellar, just stellar! The whole performance was quite remarkable.
And he is such a comedic – very quick and sharp witted. I think he and Jay Leno were having the time of their lives. Would that all guests could be as easy to interview as Clay. His interaction with Jay Leno appeared so effortless and spontaneous.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Oh thanks for sharing that! I missed it too — must have been blogging about Archuleta, one of the youngsters Clay may have referred to. The interview was hysterically funny! I remember him on Idol — great charming personality. And I loved the song as well.

I didn’t watch AI until the finale night of Ruben & Clay, and became hooked. I’m not a ClayBot (or whatever the current title of Those-Who-Love-All-That-Is-Clay may be), but I appreciate his singing. HOWEVER, I think this guy is hysterical! I’ve watched a number of interviews over the years, and he is such a fun person, can poke fun at himself and his success and seems to make those around him so comfortable and just draws them in. Truly, this young (too close to being 30!) man has the real gift of charisma!

Clay was my guy on Season 2, I still play his performance of ” Bridge Over Troubled Water ” every now and then and it remains one of my top favorite Idol performances. He’s a cutie, glad he changed his hairdo. Speaking of Idol alumni….I thought Melinda Doolittle’s CD was coming out this month and when I checked it now says late Summer or Fall. Does anyone know what’s up with that? I have been really looking forward to it and hope all is going well with her. Now there was a singer, LOVE HER.
I cornered one of the producer’s of the jazz festival we had here in Rochester this past weekend and begged him to consider her for next year’s festival. I hope they do.

Thanks for the video, MCL–he’s so poised and quick-witted. I remember, oh, around a year after his AI season was over, I walked into a store and rather absently noted that the singer (in the background music) sounded really beautiful–and after a couple of minutes I realized it was Clay, sans AI melissima!

MCL, sorry to be off topic here. Archie just performed on The View, new version of Stand By Me. You can find it on FanBlast front page. Would you comment on that? I thought his stage presence have improved dramatically. Jive/19R may have gotten him some coach lessons, and it’s working great.

Another off-topic comment, MCL, but are you going to be doing Masterclass articles on the top 24 of CI6? And if not, will you post just a summary of your favorites and why? Thanks!

I thought that he seemed very relaxed, more at ease than he was on the show even, not so much during the interview (he still is a little loveably giggly during those) but during the song–probably from all the experience on the show and since–and because there is no longer the tension of the television hoopla and the competition and the judges. I would like to hear what you thought about the song especially. I thought it was spectacular. He was so relaxed and his voice was stronger than ever and just soared. It was lovely. I can’t give a technical evaluation, so I would love to hear yours.

My comment above referred to Archie on the View singing Stand By Me. I realize it was confusing, because the subject of the blog is Clay’s appearance on Jay Leno (which I also enjoyed. He is a hoot. What a delightful personality. And he can sing so well.
Again, I would like to hear your comments on Archie’s singing on the View.

Jujuturnipseed, I totally agreed. His relaxed and stronger voice here on The View reminds me of “Be Still My Soul,” under no pressure as well.

Thanks so much for this fantastic re-cap of Clay’s phenominal performance on Leno. He is not only a source of great humor , but has the ‘pipes of perfection’!
I find it strange however that this is blog for Clay Aiken and notice a link for David A. so I am wondering why the need to post in a blog for Clay???

claysmyheart – probably because this was the most current posting when be888 found the Archie video and wanted to put it somewhere. It’s easier to keep up with posts if you are in the most current, as the last Archie post was many down, and someone might not think to go back to it a week later to check for updates.
Besides, MCL loves ALL the AI kids and we’re proud to read/listen about any and all of them!

Sorry about that, I am not a regular poster and do not know much about threads.

I envy all of you for being able to listen to Clay (and David A.). I missed the show; however, when I am at my daughter’s house on Monday (watching my Grandbabes), I’ll try to play the video.
Welcome be888!
