  1. I hate to sound cynical MCL, but this is just a two hour hype-fest for the latest and greatest from Disney Corp. I used to love everything Disney, but not anymore. Katy Perry is becoming more annoying than Jennifer Lopez was, and that’s not saying much. I find this whole format so dismal, the fact that fans can’t vote till top 10. I’m going to sound like a broken record but I miss the old Idol, like Season 7 the best of the best. When it was all about the contestants before it became a platform for the judges to promote their latest record. Of the three judges, Lionel Richie is the one most sincerely interested in helping the contestants.
I miss the way Idol used to be a platform for young singers to grow during the course of the show and let the viewers see their performances improve. I miss seeing people like Kris Allen, David Archuletta, Adam Lambert, and of course David Cook change into tremendous singers.
Speaking of David Cook, I don’t know MCL, if you’re aware that David made his Broadway debut on April 3rd in Kinky Boots and will run till May 5th. The reviews are in and he has impressed everyone from the cast to the director Jerry Mitchell and the composer Cyndi Lauper. I’ve seen an acoustic version of the highlight song from the show, called Soul of a Man, if you can find it on You Tube you must see it. His performance is astounding. I always knew he would make it on the Great White Way!

  2. It was really painful to watch Idol’s Disney episode last night. And, I agree, Katy Perry is becoming intolerable. I hope this show improves from here or I will probably stop watching. It is already clear who the voting public’s favorites are–Gabby, Caleb, Cade, Maddie.

  3. Vocab Mad – thanks for the summary of this show. Glad I didn’t and couldn’t tune in. Hard to believe that Katy Perry is still acting up. I think they need to rethink this AI platform and go retro to Season 7. That was such an amazing season. Simon and all. It was a treasure.

  4. Just read on line that people were upset about the live voting because the audience has to vote on performances from previous weeks and not just on last night’s performances. Voting is ended right after the last performance. So last night the last performer was unfairly voted off because people didn’t have time to vote for him.

  5. Louise – this sounds absolutely insane. I had such high hopes for American Idol 2.0 but I am throwing in the towel here. It is convoluted
