It’s Oscar Sunday. Time To Celebrate The 92nd Academy Awards Show

It’s Oscar Sunday. Time To Celebrate The 92nd Academy Awards Show

It’s my favourite time of year – well, except for Christmas. I love me some Christmas. All the magic, all the music, all the festivities and celebration – but I digress. Well, kind of! Because I just described why I love the Oscars.

The Oscars do, however, resurrect some of my best childhood memories of this revered award show. The Academy Awards were a huge deal in our house – all the glitz and glamour and live music were always a joy to see and hear and, as a performer, something to aspire to – key word : excellence.

You don’t receive a nomination for an Academy Award if you haven’t paid your dues. Nor, for the same reason, will you have the opportunity to occupy a seat in the audience. It is truly that simple.

So, this year, as we cheer on our favourites, try to remember that everyone who has been nominated is a winner, as well as their circle of family, friends and fans who have supported them throughout their careers. It takes a village after all.

The Presenters this year include Jane Fonda, Josh Gad, Tom Hanks, Oscar Isaac, Sandra Oh, Natalie Portman, Chris Rock and Taika Waititi. Mahershala Ali, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Zazie Beetz, Timothée Chalamet, Olivia Colman, James Corden, Penélope Cruz, Beanie Feldstein, Will Ferrell, Gal Gadot, Zack Gottsagen, Salma Hayek, Mindy Kaling, Diane Keaton, Regina King, Shia LaBeouf, Brie Larson, Spike Lee, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, George MacKay, Rami Malek, Steve Martin, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Anthony Ramos, Keanu Reeves, Ray Romano, Maya Rudolph, Mark Ruffalo, Kelly Marie Tran, Sigourney Weaver, Kristen Wiig and Rebel Wilson.

A list of the Nominees can be seen HERE

Finally, I am most certain that there will be moving tributes to those in the industry who have passed, most recently Oscar winners Kobe Bryant and Kirk Douglas. I always look forward to this poignant segment in the show.

The Oscars air live SUNDAY, February 9th 8e|5p on ABC.

Good luck one and all. I am on Team Joaquin. Love this guy. Who are you rooting for? Comment away below!

  1. Because of the coronavirus, The Voice and American Idol are showing what they’ve already filmed, but, the live shows have been postponed.

America’s Got Talent filmed a bit of the auditions before being postponed as well.
