About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

So far, I really like Katrina Cain and have my eye on a couple more, but will wait to see if they advance (one is a local boy).
Is it just me or is the new format horrible? I thought there was a glitch, but then they kept on only showing portions of the battles! 🤪 Why are we not not getting the “singing” portion of the show, but getting back stories and mentor clips?

Yeah, she’s a potential winner. Sandy Redd is interesting. I know they won’t get anywhere because none of these coaches knows the Blues but I’m enjoying the blues players on the show this year.
Vonnie, I think it’s akin to identity politics. They want you to become attached to the backstory and the “people group” the contestant is representing more than the vocals. It also makes you wonder if the battle went extremely poorly and what you see is all that was salvageable.
A quick story for you. A few weeks ago my wife and I went to a town South of us in Alabama on business. We were in the old town part of the city where a historic cotton mill stood and is now home to artisan shops. I pulled over to the side of the road while my wife searched her phone for a BBQ place. I noticed we had stopped right in front of a historic marker and I could see the word “Picket” on the sign from where I sat. I got out of the car to read it and low and behold, we had randomly stopped at the site of Wilson Picket’s home place! Wicked Picket, Huuuh, alright! HOW COOL IS THAT?

Yeah, I see Katrina in the finals, I’m sure Blake knows he has a potential winner, at least I hope he does.
There are a couple of interesting voices this year, I agree, some definite bluesy voices this time.
So far JHud hasn’t made me want to throw my tv out the window…but the show ain’t over yet!
I’m curious to see if the Voice goes by DWTS and does a jr edition of their show.

He also performed lead in Kinky Boots on Broadway during the summer.

Since the late sixties, most blues players gravitate toward rock and fuse their blues background into the rock genre. Some return to their roots latter in life like Clapton or Robert Plant. Some are always blues players with the occasional song that spills over into Rock, Pop, Country or R&B like BB King or Delbert McClinton. Stevie Ray Vaughn was straight up Texas Blues but sold well as a guitar hero rocker.
There is a Blues channel, BB Kings Bluesville, on XM 74 but you are unlikely to find a Blue channel on FM.
The Voice coaches are always “dazed and confused” by their contestants who are Blues singers. The only one that I recall getting a fair shake in the past was a young girl named Mia Z.

I didn’t think to pick up a rock or anything but , dang, that’s a good idea! I took some pictures of the historical marker and the area. The marker was in front of a vacant lot and the house next door didn’t have any signage or tourist appeal. It was unclear if they were just saying he was from Prattville , AL. or if his home stood on the vacant lot or it was the house next door. I was blown away that I happened to stop in front of the sign. Hank William’s boyhood home is nearby and Elvis’s home place is just about 2 hours away. Those are both tourist attractions.
I haven’t watched the DWTS junior show. (is it on yet?) I’ve seen the previews on the regular show. To be honest, it doesn’t have the same appeal. I enjoy the work ethic, the personal growth stories, people excelling in a discipline they have no experience with, how good the pros are at their own discipline as well as choreography, teaching and life coaching and there is a strong element of sex appeal, what can I say. I can’t see the kid’s show providing any of that in either a dancing show or a kid’s version of The Voice.
