  1. All in All, it was a pretty good night. I still stand by my thoughts on the top four. Britton, Kyla, Spensha and Pryor.

Britton was my favorite tonight, that kid has so much charisma.

Rocker Jackie should have sang a Heart song, she sounds a lot like Ann Wilson.

I wasn’t crazy about song choices for some, but loved a couple. I thought, Kyla and Spensha’s duet was the best of the night.

  2. I wouldn’t call them duets, I would call them mashups because they weren’t singing the same song.

  3. Best of the pairings was Kyla and Spensha.

  4. I would say the best of the pairings was Kyla. Spensha was ok.

  5. If I were to go by iTunes, top four would be Kyla, Britton, Brynn and Kaleb…I’ve seen stranger things happen on this show! 😳

Wasn’t the only mashup Kyla and Sensha? If not, goes to show you how interested I am this season, lol.

I’m skipping next season, I really can’t do JHud again. I might tune in for live shows, maybe!

  6. Vonnie – Each pairing was a mashup

Kaleb and Pryor – “Hillbilly Bone” and “Hillbilly Deluxe”
Kyla and Spensha – “What’s Going On” and “Rise Up”
Britton and Brynn – “Four Five Seconds” and “Can’t Always Get What You Want”
Jackie and Rayshun – “Believer” and “Radioactive”

  7. Idol Girl…Lol, I totally did not even notice! Yikes, I really am not interested this season! 😲 I don’t like the pairings part anyways, especially when it counts towards the votes; some get great partners, some not so much so. Oddly, the husband didn’t FF through them or I could have used that as an excuse, but I got nothin’ 😂

  8. Vonnie, with the exception of Kaleb, I think that IS the top four. Kaleb has gotten the “gospel bounce” if you will, that has him higher in the iTunes rankings than his season might reflect. It may be enough to hold him in the top four, but I think Pryor will probablybump him out.

I thought the song intros where they treated “Imagine” and “My Church” as if they were essentially gospel songs was pretty, hmmm, sad really. I was going to say funny.

Rayshun should be done but I woke up in a cold sweat last night, sort of like the movie “Groundhog Day,” with a brain cloud hovering over my head. and there in the cloud was Rayshun singing for his life, AGAIN, and winning the spot!

Boots should be done as well. Still not a rocker. She needs time on the road. At this point she is all school and no real world experience. I was glad Mercovich corrected her on the melody of the song she was singing. There was a young boy on Idol a few years back who won a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and I think Jackie represents why I thought he was to young to get the greatest benefit from going there. No real world experience.

Kelly’s work in coaching Brynn has been less than stellar. I was glad that she kept her at the mic stand instead of running around and running out of breath last night but she should have worked with her on the unnatural word pronunciations that Brynn was mimicking from Andra Day. Her iTunes version is very good but I didn’t like the stage version. This is an inexperienced kid who performs WAY over the level of her age and experience but she needs to be developed and guided more on artistic choices. I blame Kelly.

Britton is the most ready to launch, commercially viable contestant still standing.

I wonder why Kyla didn’t “launch” from the J-Hud platform?

I think Jackie, Rayshun, Kaleb and Spensha are headed for the barn

  9. Great thoughts Gene,

I kind of thought Rocker Jackie came across as a little girl in her mommas high heels and lipstick, playing pretend. She sounds like Ann Wilson but looks like Celine Dion, while there is nothing wrong with Celine, (she’s a powerhouse), definitely not rock…when I think of rocker chicks from my day, I think of Blondie, Joan Jet, Ann Wilson, Stevie Nicks, they exude coolness.

Brynn has just never won me over musically, I think the little girl who sang “let your hair down” was much better, but that’s just me and my ears; I’m not much on the Indy style. However, I do think she may edge out one of my top four for a spot.

Lol, I have had similar thoughts about Rayshun, I’m afraid to say them out loud.

I think Kyla has been the most consistent, with Britton and Pryor right behind her, I would say top three.

Conspiracies aside, it’s anybody’s guess who will take the confetti bath!

  11. If ABC has the same schedule as this Spring, they should skip showing the Spring edition of Dancing With The Stars next year.

  12. Well now, wasn’t expecting that, but it is what it is, let’s go to the finale. Song choice, song choice, song choice.

  13. Idol Girl,
It’s a shame what they have done with the show this season. When you combine the ridiculously short schedule, an all athlete cast, only a few of their top dancers, one obnoxious judge and the redemption of Tonya story line, there isn’t much left to like. I’ve always found DWTS to be pleasant entertainment, but this is hard to watch. If they need to cut the fat, Bruno would be a good place to start.

  14. Got three of my guesses right. Surprised one had to be Twitter saved, though.

  15. Three for me as well, lol, I think we each had three but each different on our fourth one. I think we all had Pryor making it.

  16. Gene,
I was surprised to read your comments about DWTS. I have been enjoying the all athlete show this time. It’s been a nice change for the show. And I have even been willing to give Tanya Harding credit for her dancing which has been quite good. But I’ve been partial to Adam Rippon from the beginning, and it looks like he might have a chance. As for Bruno, he is a jerk, but just part of the charm of the show.

  17. I guess next weeks songs will be a previous, first single and a duet? Blah! They should get to sing whatever they choose for the finale.

  18. Or no, duet is on results night! Can’t remember if they get to choose a song or not!

    Kyla – Summertime
    Britton – Stay
    Brynn – ?
    Spensha – ?

  19. Hi Louise,
All of the figure skaters are good, but there sport is so similar to ballroom dancing in so many ways that I tend to discount their results in comparison to someone like Josh Norman who is dancing with with Sharna Burgess. I think he has been remarkably good for someone with no past similar experience.

I like the athletes on DWTS just fine, particularly when they are close to their competitive years, but I don’t really care for an entire cast of them. The season is so short there isn’t much of a story line and some of the eliminations don’t make any sense.

In the last two seasons Bruno has become totally obnoxious. He’s worse than Katy Perry about hitting on the contestants. He is knowledgeable and is capable of giving a good critique but I can barely watch him anymore.

Tonya has said that she overheard her ex husband plotting the attack on Nancy Kerrigan. She had fore knowledge of it. She was fined $100 grand and banned for life from skating. The media of the time turned the narrative against Nancy, the VICTIM, (fairly typical for the media) even the most recent interview of her questions why she would say “why” repeatedly after being attacked. I see ABC / Disney rehabilitating a scumbag to promote their movie . I don’t see a victim in Tonya. She does have good footwork but I would have preferred Marai Nagasu have stayed.

  20. A Voice blog I read says that the show is showing favoritism to Kyla.
