  1. Song wise, tonight was better than last week. I liked Spensha, Britton and Pryor tonight, in that order. I thought everyone else did really well, I have no idea who will go home.

I’m going to say again, Britton is like a unicorn, there is something mysterious and magical about him. I really need for him to sing Jared Leto’s “Stay”! I have a feeling he and Brynn will be duet night partners.

  2. Pryor has a very nice voice when he takes his foot off the gas ⛽️ I much prefer that to the raspy sound. I actually thought last night, that he would sound great singing a Bryan Adams song; if he could tone down the rasp and use his other voice!

  3. Now we have one less Jackie to be confused by.

  4. Idol Girl,

Lol…I really didn’t think she would go home! However, I can imagine it may have been confusing for some to have two Jackie’s; lol, look how long it took for me to figure it out! Haha, next week, they’ll be like, “I thought that Jackie girl went home, who’s this Jackie”!

  5. “One less egg to fry…”

I thought “Thigh Boot Jackie” was the best overall this week. No sad back story or history making attempts or anything, just a solid vocal and a nice performance. She continues to look more like a Pop singer than a Rocker to me though.

I thought Country Jackie had shown steady improvement week to week and I’m sorry to see her have trouble with her song last night. Now we can focus on the boots!

Brenn should have stood still. The star walk got he all kinds of off key. I blame Kelly!

Christiana sang a song that Prior should have in his song book. She couldn’t make it happen and he would probably just “shout it out,” so. Christiana was never one of my favorites but she was a pretty remarkable contestant for someone who had never performed anywhere before.

I didn’t like Britton’s arrangement. On a side note, the baby face makes him a little harder to take seriously as a bad boy.

Kyla is a nice lady and a decent singer but I’m having a hard time seeing her as the next big thing.

I’m in a similar place with Spensha. Maybe Blake can get her there but I’m not feeling her Country vibe.

Kaleb has done about all he can do. There is a bus waiting for him.

Rayshun, I had hoped Jackie would beat him this week.

  6. Oh my goodness. I just watched Britton singing New York State Of Mind. I. Am. In. Love.

  7. Ah! MCL, that’s the Britton we knew and loved, song choice has been his worst enemy. I think all of these contestants did and do much better when left to think for themselves.

    Gene,

Ditto on all remarks! I like Hip Boot Jackie’s Voice, not sure I loved that song…she has yet to prove herself to me as a rocker; I’m thinking Jazz for her, she reminds me a little of Emily from last season.

Kyla is a beautiful soul…song choice! She has such a rich undertone, I would love some bluesy Jazz from her too…Bang Bang would be a great song for her. Lady GaGa’s version, if you haven’t heard it, it’s definitely worth the trip to YouTube, may even be a good choice for hip boot Jackie.

Britton is the charmer, that baby face buys votes and lots of them. So much why he needs to do the Jared Leto version of stay, leather jacket and sunglasses is a must. That version of that song is well worth the trip to YouTube.

Sensha is where country music wants to go, she is in the Carrie Underwood bracket. Those who love the new country are voting, the old sounders not so much so.

Pryor needs to sing Simple Man, Lynard Skynard

  8. Annnnnndddd, I spelled Lynyrd Skynyrd wrong, shame on me, I know better.

Blake Shelton if you read here, Simple Man is a must for Pryor.

Alisha Keys if you read here, Stay, Jared Leto version is a must for Britton.

  9. MCL,
That performance was when Britton was at his peak. It was a great vocal as well as a good performance. He also added playing piano to his resume for the first time. He had played guitar prior to that time.

He also made a smart move as a competitor that night when he left the piano and did the crooner walk, I think he squashed the guy who was all crooner on Blake’s team with that display of versatility.

  10. Vonnie,
The Voice app has a “suggest a song feature that you might like. You can also watch all of the performance videos via the app.

    Free bird!

  11. Gene,

I will check out that APP, I am technically challenged, but will give it a whirl.

Free bird would be good too. I pickled Simple Man because he would simply need to sing the song, not get on the throttle too much. I just want to hear his normal voice without the gravely growl.

What did you decide about going to see Tony Jackson? Wouldn’t he be great on the voice? 😃

  12. I just felt compelled to say “Free Bird” at the mention of Lynyrd Skynyrd. All of those Bic lighters waving in the studio might be dangerous if anybody busted out Free Bird. One of the more interesting versions of the song that I have heard was by the late Joy Feek of Joy and Rory fame. Very nice and, as it happened, frighteningly prophetic. Simple Man is always a great song.

I haven’t decided if I’ll go see Tony Jackson or not. He would be a killer contestant on the Voice. He has good backing now but he’s not really skyrocketing. I have no idea if they play him on the radio. My guess is not.

My top four remain the same with Brynn, Britton, Thigh Boots Jackie and Pryor. I have reservations about each of them. “Boots” is getting more of my attention after going back and watching each of their performance videos again. It might be telling that I skipped a lot of Pryor’s videos.

  13. Lol Gene, I remember the bic lighter days, haha nowadays the kids use their cell phones…what gives?!?!? Burnt thumbs meant you really loved the music 😂

I would vote my fingers to the nub voting for Tony Jackson. The Voice would definitely give him a platform to be heard.

The top four I figure will make it…Kyla, Britton, Pryor, Sensha

  14. I have a Zippo lighter app on my phone. It sounds like a Zippo when you open and close it, you flick the flint while to light it, and the flame reacts to the breeze as you wave it back and forth begging for an anchor! The phone gets hot after after using it for a minute or two. I don’t know if that is by design or it’s overloading the battery. Too much time on my hands.

  15. Gene, you are hip and ready to jump in the mosh pit, I would be the one sitting on the floor trying to figure out how to get mine to work. That is pretty cool though…I guess this way one doesn’t have to worry about getting your lighter to close to an 80’s head of hairspray! Haha, sounds like you are having entirely too much fun with your phone 😃

Our Summer Series kicks off tonight at a few of the vineyards in my area, not going tonight, waiting for a couple of bands that are pretty decent, then I will drag the husband kicking and screaming, plop him in a chair and tell him to put on his happy face and for heaven sake honey, at least look like you’re having fun, K….

  16. Coaches for next season of the Voice…Blake, Adam, Kelly and Jennifer Hudson.

Glad to see Kelly’s coming back, would like to see her be a regular.

  17. Yeah, you wouldn’t want a repeat of the Michael Jackson fire trick incident.

Is that the Jazz series you were telling me about? The tasting room should offer a nice diversion for non music lovers.

They say J-Hud didn’t play well with others. I wonder why they are having her back except as an in your face to American Idol.

  18. Gene,

Yeah, dunno, looks like they’re going to give her another chance in the sandbox. By the sound of it on instagram, ain’t too many people happy that she’s coming back. I’d rather have Miley or Gwen if Alicia can’t do next season.

The summer series, is local bands of all genres who come and play at the vineyards, they are drawing some pretty good crowds. We have a few local bands who are pretty good.
