I am attempting to do catch up here on both American Idol and The Voice. Keep sending me links to your favourite singers and I will, eventually, have a look and listen. I apologize for the delay.

The Voice airs on Monday, April 16th and Tuesday, April 17th at 8:00 PM on NBC.

Enjoy the show everyone. I look forward to your comments and insights.

  1. Well…I was pretty underwhelmed for the most part. It really felt rushed, I don’t think I liked all 24 in one night and the voting options were horrible. I agreed with everyone who was put through though, I still have no clear favorite! Pryor kind of jumped out at me tonight, Kyla too, her voice is so clear and has so many dimensions. I can’t remember who else I liked they are all running together.

  2. I was a bit underwhelmed as well. Too many squeezed in to one night.

  3. I’m still supporting Brynn. I think she has the special sauce but she said she is a soul singer and I would like to see that reflected in her song choices. I don’t care much for the songs she is singing and that might hurt her in the iTunes voting.

Pryor is more in my personal lane than anyone else in the competition and would have been my choice from Team Adam.

I think Britton also has the special sauce. While not AS young as Brynn, he has a well developed talent, especially for his age.

Jackie Foster has the same issue with her song choices as Brynn. She said she is a rocker but I’m not feeling it. I like her voice and skills but I would like a little more grit with my rock and roll please.

I actually like this voting format but it does depend on the audience being up to speed with what the show expects from them or they will miss the opportunity to vote. No DVR viewing, no pausing, and no watching American Idol first and watching the Voice latter! You have to watch in real time and vote in real time or too bad.

  5. I am enjoying the contestants from Idol more than The Voice at this point. That may change, but right now I’m not excited about The Voice.

  6. I really like the crooner on Blake’s team, like his voice and stage presence, I would love to see him advance, but I feel sure it will be Wilkes and Pryor. Do they still have a come back contestant?

I don’t tweet and hate apps, so I’m out of the voting loop. 🙃

I haven’t watched last nights show yet, I will watch it sometime today.

I agree that Pryor and Wilkes will probably advance on Blake’s team. I was very disappointed with Pryor’s song choice. What was he thinking? Wilkes was pretty clever with his and he pulled it off well.

The app is pretty non invasive in my opinion. You just select it on your phone and press the vote button and it takes you to the voting choices. You pick a contestant, slide the vote counter up from one to ten and press done I think. It ask you if you would like to vote again. either vote again or log off. That’s it. I never receive any communications of any sort from them.

It was interesting to watch how it worked during this round. It enabled the first team and showed the contestants until you could no longer vote for them, then it changed to the next team.

I like this system of selecting the twelve over three days and in three tiers. It makes it clear who the front runners are, as well as the second and third tier contestants. It also allows you to vote for contestants on each team without hurting your favorite. The real time voting was hard for me to comply with because we have two of our young grandchildren with us this week and that’s bath and bed time. I usually watch the show about 30 mins after it airs anyway, but I managed to do it.

The other downside is when a show of this type has 24 live performances with a live band and backing vocals you can expect that the result will be less than top drawer. I found the lack of back stories and over the top comments from the coaches refreshing.

  10. Gene,

Lol, I’m an old dog that isn’t too interested in getting off my front porch to learn a new trick…however, I may give the app a whirl; but only if there are treats involved.

I think all of the teams this year have a potential winner, if I had to choose one I would say Britton at this point.
