About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

I liked the “Save” better than the “Block”.

The “block” is just another feature of The Voice that emphasizes the coaches over the the contestants. I recall one young lady that sang an Elisha Keys song and Kelly blocked Elisha. Good gamesmanship on Kelly’s part but it likely denied the contestant the coach of her choice. I didn’t like it either.
The save, or something like it is something I have wanted to see for a long time. The way they have implemented it is close to what I had hoped for, which was to allow a coach one opportunity to keep both singers. I hadn’t imagined that they would declare a winner and then “Save” the other or that it would re-open the “Steal” opportunity for the other coaches. I would prefer that they declare a “Tie” and leave it at that but this method creates a lot of drama and excitement. I’m ok with this method for a while.
I thought last night was an outstanding show. Most of the singers were very good to excellent and the former winners returning as mentors was a great addition to the show.
One of the best features of The Voice is that they make changes to keep it fresh and they seem to listen to what their viewers are saying. If they would get rid of the Twitter save and the mass cuts I would be pretty happy with the show.

The “Save” is an interesting new feature for sure that also might reduce the number of good singers going home too soon. It’s been interesting watching how they have used it or not used it when you thought they would.
You need to see Brynn Cartelli as well. This girl is 14 going on 30 in her singing skills I think you will like her mouth position and vibrato) as well as her performance skills and the way she comports herself in general. She is on team Kelly and I believe she is in a strong position to win.
Also the “Rat Pack” guy seems to be establishing his identity as an individual rather than a Sinatra impersonator. I know you will like that. I don’t recall whose team he is currently on though.

The Rat Pack Boy is on Team Blake and he used his save for him.
I like the save, just wish they used it for the Live rounds. I’m liking a lot of the contestants, just none has made me declare a front runner…I’m holding out for this week, Blake has a guy that I have my eye on, long haired dude, singing next week.
I really liked the little girl that Sang with Kyla, Jacqueline she sang (let your hair down) I am hoping she is who Blake brings back for live shows. Right now I have at least one or two from each team that I am watching.

They have the “Coaches Save” in the live rounds where the viewers choose two and the coaches chose the third. How would you differ from that?
I remember the girl you are referring to. That was the best rendition of that song I have ever heard on one of the singing competition shows.
The girl who sang “Girl Crush” on Kelly’s team was pretty good too, on that night anyway. I think Kelly was clearing the path for the 14 year old.
Is “long hair guy” long hair with a hat and guitar guy? There are several that I have enjoyed performing but haven’t formed an attachment and I have lost track of. It would be easy to pick the top 6 or eight at this point but there is no need to rush it.
The thing about Brynn is she is special in a field of good singers. Even though she is pretty good as both a singer and a performer, I thing you have to consider her in light of her age. Not as an excuse but as a “wow” factor. Those eyes would look pretty good on an album cover too.
None of them have inspired me to by a download yet. That may be an area that Kelly isn’t up to speed on yet.

I felt the same way about Rat Pack Boy until this past performance. I thought he sounded more like a new voice rather than an impersonator this week. I think he should flip new songs to Rat Pack style songs like “Post Modern Jukebox does. Michael Buble does a good job of sounding like he could be a member of the Rat Pack without sounding like he is impersonating them. That should be RPB’s goal. He’s just another contestant that’s ok to watch but he’s not on my radar.

I would rather see a one time judges save during live in rounds instead of twitter save; made to be used before top six (?) then maybe have the four judges saves go to a sing off, with voter votes picking the one to advance…I just don’t like the twitter save, voters have already spoken by that point and not fair to the contestant who may have been saved by votes but sent home in the twitter save. Rant, over!
I like Rat Pack Boy, definitely the only one in his lane on the show.
Long haired guy is WILKES on Blake’s team that I’m waiting to hear next week. Would like to hear him sing Wagon Wheel

Sal -your daughter has a gorgeous voice. What a range! I loved her performance. My only advice – tell her to crispy articulate the consonants so we can better understand her words. However, the fact that she sustains her voice on the vowel in such a pure way is key to the seamless quality of her voice.
