About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

So far, I liked Red, and Jon (while I’m not crazy about his falsetto, I love his natural voice, he has a fifties vibe to his voice)

Red was decent. He needs to be careful to mind his singing while he is doing the star walk thing. (and get that hat!)
Chloe is growing on me. She used to have a wicked vibrato thing that sounded like a goat to me, so tonight was a improvement for her.
I still like the young girl, Addison I believe, it is. Very nice voice, good musical taste and a very nice well balance young lady. Very impressive for 16. I like Sara Bareilles but I wouldn’t have chosen that song. She sang well though.
The kid with the hair ought to do some Stray Cats. He’s got his star power machine all tuned up.

I didn’t know the song that Red sang, at this point for him, song choice is going to be crucial, as there are a lot of really good contestants and it looks like it will go week by week voting, for whoever shines. Lol, yes, a few has their star power turned up.
I have no clear winner at this point, if I had to guess who will be going home, I would say Delta Dawn girl.

I agree Vonnie. Song choice and too much band were my main issues with Red. Every song you choose needs to be something your fans can’t live without a copy of. I think he is a contender if he plays the game right.
I still don’t care for “Delta Dawn” girl but They are pushing her pretty hard. I have a song choice for her though. I believe it was the Georgia Satellites and this may not be the title but the hook was “Don’t gimme no lines and keep your hands to yourself.” A song for our times!
I’m getting tired of the outrageous lies the judges tell. Blake’s gal that is trying to break into country music who did Midnight “Train to Georgia” didn’t pull it off. If she had gone with a straight cover it would have been better, musically anyway, but it sounded disjointed as if she couldn’t find the melody. They gave her a standing O and Blake went on about how beautiful it was. I like the lady and I hope she can actually break into country music but that wasn’t beautiful.
The last lady, Janice I believe, also a very nice lady and has appeared to be a force in the earlier rounds. I hope she has great success given what she has been through Again, while not as off as the previously mentioned singer, she wasn’t as good as she has previously been and didn’t rise to the level of the praise.
I don’t know about who will win or loose but I still like the young girl.

That’s what I think as well, Idol Girl. There is some depth in that young woman. Nice tone and very mature control to her vocals. Hanging out at her Dad’s record shop hasn’t hurt her either. She is the only one in the top 10, currently #9, on iTunes.
The Country chart is interesting with Keisha Renee at #6 I believe and Red all the way down to 22. Didn’t see that coming.

Yes! The over praising has been an ongoing issue since the Idol days, except for Simon. I always appreciated his unwavering opinion and usually agreed with him. I like Keisha’s voice, but am not sure about the country lane?!? Definitely sounds more R&B to me.

Yeah, song choice. I’m really surprised that Red would chose a “just ok” song, given his history.
A contestant needs to record something that the fans want to buy, I have several from over the years in my collection and sometimes when I do a random shuffle these songs will play and I’m reminded how good some of these contestants that didn’t make it were or I wonder who on earth that was. A few of them were bought just to support a contestant that I liked but most were because I liked their take on the song.
I picked up Addison’s track this morning and the iTunes version is very nice.

I didn’t realize that Jordan Fisher, the kid that won DWTS, was from her in the Birmingham area and in fact, lives between two of my brothers. Small world. He is an incredible dancer but I didn’t support his win because he’s a professional.

I am really shocked that Jon went home…again, song choice! I didn’t think that song did anything to showcase his voice. While I felt his voice had a fifties doowoop vibe, a Jackson 5 song wasn’t what I was thinking for his voice.
I don’t know if I’ve said this before or not but I HATE THE INSTANT SAVE. Just call it as it is, the person with the least votes. Because you know the person who received the least votes sometimes ends up being saved and the one who was saved by people taking their time to vote for them ends up going home. Rant over…
Gene that’s cool about the dancing guy living close to your brothers…you hit on the very reason I quit watching, him being a professional. Between Jennifer Gray and a few of the gymnasts winning the show, the two left feet-er’s don’t have a chance and seem to just be added fluff; and while I loved Derek, he seemed to get the cream of the crop while dancers like Tony got the fluff.
Geepies, I seem to be in rant mode this morning…more coffee, I need more coffee, and a nap, yes, more coffee and a nap and I will be as good as new!

I thought that Shianne would go home. With better coaching she might be pretty good but it’s kind of sad to see her dressed up like Mariah Carey and trying to sing songs that are way over her head.
My second choice would be beard guy. He has a great tone to his voice but his changes to the songs don’t work. I’m thinking a 60’s war, more specifically draft protest song, wasn’t his best choice.
Jon was one of the better singers in the competition but not really in my lane. If he was going to do a Jackson 5 song it would have worked better for me if he had kept the tempo and left of the star walk routine. He also chose to change his whole look that was part of his persona for sing for your life night.
Maybe they all learned a lesson about being better prepared to save themselves on Tuesday night. That’s you too Red.
Yeah, the professional dancer contestants on DWTS are a turn off. They usually have some level of plausible deniability that they are pros like Baby was an actress who played a kid in a dance contest. This kid had singer, dancer, actor listed as his profession on his Wiki page. Maybe not his doing. Mark Ballis’ partner has developed a unique performance style from playing the violin / fiddle while “dancing” about the stage but it is all self taught and it might be like calling Mic Jagger a dancer to call her one. She was outstanding. Frankie (Malcolm) Muniz was the guy you were looking for. Zero previous experience, great pairing with Witney, great attitude, strong work ethic, strong start with improvement all along. They were fun to watch and turned in at least one of the most memorable performances of the season. He was a great contestant and they were a great couple. He came in third.

My only problem with Keisha is her authenticity as a country singer. Trying to turn “Midnight Train to Georgia” into a country song reinforced that concern.
