We have entered The Playoffs segment on The Voice and here is what is happening (Source: Wikipedia)

“The Playoffs were taped on August 31 and September 1, and comprised episodes 15, 16, and 17. As in season 6, the Playoffs were prerecorded, this time featuring no interactive viewer voting component, and therefore no subsequent results shows. As in seasons 9, 10, and 12, four previously eliminated artists were chosen by the coaches to come back for the Playoffs. This time, they were Natalie Stovall, Lucas Holliday, Karli Webster, and Whitney Fenimore.

This season is the first to have the Playoffs taped on the same stage as the Battles and the Knockouts. The top twenty four artists performed for the coaches, with each coach choosing three artists from their teams. The remaining top twelve artists advanced to the live shows.”

Okay, seriously readers, I read this summary multiple times and it gave me a headache. As someone who doe not regularly watch the show, I find this whole selection/elimination process convoluted. But then – I just turned 70 so….

Too many singers, so few spots. I wish them all the greatest success in the world because exposure is everything in this business and momentum even more so. Hopefully the exposure will increase their momentum as they move ahead in the music industry.

The Voice airs on Monday, November 13th and Tuesday, November 14th at 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, November 15th at 9:00 PM on NBC

  1. Yep! Blake and JHud picked em just like I would have.

Did they change this portion? Why did I think they were voted on and the coaches had no say who went to the live rounds, and more than three went…is my flat spot showing again?

  2. Yeah, maybe fan votes for the first two and the judge chooses the third?

Regarding Jennifer and her team. I agree she picked the correct ones but I wish she could get her team to settle down and not over embellish everything they do. The box boy and the young girl were the worst offenders. Having said that, she may be the most entertaining judge they have ever had. She’s a hoot!

  4. Adam is a MORON. Does that explain it?

I suspect that he doesn’t want a female challenger for Addison on his own team. I like her a lot as well. She has a lot of natural talent but needs some polish. She’s that young girl influenced heavily by her Dad combo that has produced good results over the years. So I think she was a good pick and so was John but Emily was such a shoe in that I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears when he picked Adam. Red has his lane covered and then some. Bad choice!

Right after Emily performed I said to my wife that she would get the Pia treatment but I never for saw that it would happen at this point. You could read it in J Hud’s remarks suggesting she was too perfect and Blake’s lack luster remarks.

    MORON…

  5. Gene,

I think you’re right! I think the fix must already be in, who’s the chosen one?!? My husband bought fell out of his recliner when he said Adam, that would have been something to try and explain to the first responders. Yeah, well, go Red! I will certainly keep up with Emily, I am just flabbergasted 😮 and it takes a lot to render me speechless!

So if you say “he was fine right up until they choose Adam on The Voice….” You may make it into someone’s long term memory of strange calls… or they might call the police!

If I were to take a wild guess I would say someone on Team Miley given the all girl team thing. She has the little rocker chic so maybe it will be the battle of the babes. I think Red has a shot as well. There are several good singers but the country artist usually do well with the fans.

  7. Lol…I can see the headlines now, “Lady blames the Voices bad choice from coach Adam, for picking Adam, for her husbands bizarre fall from his recliner” Stay tuned for this and other top stories at 10,

    Im still in shock…

  8. LOL !!!

Me too, sort of. We have seen it happen on both shows several times before.

  9. Well…no rocker chick either! I find it interesting that both Miley and Adam passed up “their” lane to include a country artist to beat Blake at his own game! I guess out of this bunch, I’m team Red, I would have been team Emily, but no, Adam had to be all about himself, not thinking of the rest of us and pick Adam!

    Let the games begin!

  11. Hi, Vonnie and Gene,
So much for my musical tastes, I guess, but I was really happy that Adam picked Adam over the super good female singer. Yes, she has a wonderful voice, but I didn’t care for her. I haven’t been watching much this season so I have to catch up on the other contestants. BTW, have you been watching DWTS? I am a big fan of Property Brothers, but I don’t think Drew deserves to be in the finals.

  13. Agree with this. They need to have Voice alums on the results shows.

  14. Hi Louise,
Sorry, I’ve been out of town. I read your comment but haven’t had a chance to reply.

Yeah, just say no to Drew. In his defense though, I would say that for a tall, lanky guy, he has done a decent job. I give the credit to Emma who has done a great job of matching her timing to his and making him look better than he is. I would have preferred Victoria and Val stay another week. She has been phenomenal, given her history. These shows always keep someone who is an obvious cut for the next round and sometimes it comes at the expense of a surprise elimination. Victoria wasn’t a surprise, just my preference. Drew is the first to go.

Frankie, who will forever be Malcolm in my mind, has been one of the best “contestants” in the show’s history. He just loves being there and tries very hard to keep up. Great attitude and very entertaining to watch. He might squeak out a win.

Jordan verses Lindsey is the competition in my view. I like Lindsey and Frankie the best.

  15. Hi Louise 💕

I’m not watching DWTS, I haven’t watched for a few seasons now! 😃

I loved Emily, I was shocked she went home, but it’s all good, I think she will do well on the outside of the show! 🤗 To be honest, I really haven’t paid much attention to Adam, but now that they are in the Live shows, I will give him a listen. 💕😃

I’m team Red, he sounds so much like Garth!

  16. Vonnie,
I missed the show and finally got to see it Sunday. I’m sad to see the little rocker chick go. She needed more work, which isn’t really what the Voice is about, but she had a nice little voice except when her coach was trying to run her off. The early portion of her song was good though.

I don’t care for Miley;s country girl. I do like Gretchen Wilson who she was covering, primarily her ballads. Blake has said that there is no one in that lane, but Gretchen is still there the last time I looked, someone he used to share a home with spends some time in the tough girl lane.

Whitney was the girl who was eliminated in favor of the rocker chick who I thought was better that night. She was a call back but I felt like she was also given a song that she wouldn’t do well with.

  17. Vonnie,
I suspect that Red can sound like most popular male country singers. He made his living for about 15 years making demos and pitching songs for Nashville writing groups. He also gigged around the clubs like everyone does. I remember thinking that he already has several versions of a lot of popular songs in his head that he played around with while recording the demos. So he can “make it his own anytime he wants to.

He needs a cowboy hat on that melon though!

  18. Gene,

Haha 😂 yes! A cowboy/melon cover would be great!

    I’m liking Blake’s team tonight…A lot!

I didn’t care for the song choice for Adam, so I will hold critic on him this time, but I must admit, I was missing Emily!
