Are You Ready For The American Music Awards And Some 24K Magic?

Bruno Mars, American Music Awards

I cannot tell you how excited I am to watch Bruno Mars bring a ton of 24K Magic to the American Music Awards tonight. He is one of my favourite performers on the planet – such a phenomenon. No current artist can touch him. He is Bruno. From Mars. And hence the name. (C’mon, you really didn’t think that was his original name, did you?   It’s Peter Gene Hernandez).

But, I digress. I must go back to the original reason for this article and stop being a fan girl.

The American Music Awards will air on Sunday, November 20th at 8:00 PM on ABC at the Microsoft Theatre. Unlike the Grammys, the AMAs are determined by a poll of the public and fans, who can vote through the AMAs website.

Scheduled Performers, besides Bruno Mars, are:

  • Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj — “Side To Side”
  • Fifth Harmony — “That’s My Girl”
  • Sting
  • James Bay
  • The Weeknd
  • Green Day
  • John Legend — “Love Me Now”
  • Lady Gaga — “Million Reasons”
  • Shawn Mendes — “Mercy”
  • Twenty One Pilots — “Heathens”
  • Niall Horan — “This Town”
  • DJ Khaled feat. Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Future & August Alsina —”Do You Mind”
  • Maroon 5 & Kendrick Lamar — “Don’t Wanna Know”
  • The Chainsmokers & Halsey — “Closer”

And, it looks like Justin Bieber is back once again. Good for him!  He is nominated for Artist Of The Year and Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist.  He will have some stiff competition in the former category from American Idol alum Carrie Underwood and others. But, his fans may come through for him.

So, it is almost showtime. Here we go!  Comment away.  And have a listen to #24K Magic over at Apple Music. So, SO good.

  1. You couldn’t pay me a million dollars to watch the show… If I wanted to watch a show it would be people that can actually SING…. I’m sure most if not all will lip sync… Why not have a great Carrie Underwood performance, at least there you would get natural true talent and a ‘performance’ guaranteed…..

  2. Well I love Bruno Mars. Plugged and unplugged but I prefer live real vocals. Carrie never disappoints in that respect. She has such a strong work ethic. Very honest and real.

  3. And I’m sure he can sing, and one of the better ones, but with shows like this, they don’t sing live….. Only Country music do you hear the natural talent….. And you are right, she does not disappoint…… Talk about someone that truly tops every performance before it….. I totally agree strong work ethic… She is a prodigy no doubt……..

  4. I see that the ratings were down last night for the AMA’s…. See they should have had Carrie there, she brings in high ratings.. Supposedly no Country acts performed so they missed a huge audience….

  5. I prefer live vocals too, but I don’t limit it to country music only. In my music collection, I have singers such as Adele and Josh Groban as well as singers such as Carrie Underwood.

  6. And I can relate to you with regards to Adele and of course Josh Groban, that man is an incredible singer….. If he would have performed, I would have definitely watched his performance…. I love traditional style singers, nothing like them…..

  7. Hey everyone. I don’t think the great Michael Buble has ever been on these shows. He is very pre-occupied now because his little son was diagnosed with cancer. But, no invite in the past I believe. Very strange
