About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

i checked itunes last night, and was really excited to check again this morning because i thought there would be a lot of performers charting, but no. the person i thought would really be up there would be austin allsup, blake’s guy from ten years ago who reminds me of billy bob thorton. i *loved* his performance of tom petty’s song. i could not believe that he was never on the chart at all, wow. the person who was on last night, and still highest today was brendan fletcher with soulshine. i thought the song was fine but i guess his personality just doesn’t do it for me, whereas i really liked the guy he did battle with (who got four chairs turned this year and zero last year). i thought, wow, adam has really made a mistake and then i saw how brendan charted last night, the only one, and then one of three today. interesting.

what i was VERY excited about was that aaron gibson (the younger guy with short hair and a raspy voice) whose father was a marine, was the last singer. yay!!
i mentioned this here before, he is my favorite, and usually my favorites get booted early, and i’m left to tread water for the rest of the season. 🙂
anyway, he battled josh halverson, the indian-looking guy with the long hair who did really really well. i was torn thinking i don’t want either of these to go.
i do think that alisha and miley talked beforehand so that alisha knew she would be able to steal josh.
anyway, i am very very happy they are both still there, and what fascinated me was that they are the only other people who are charting.
listening to all three songs on itunes, i really love josh’s ‘whiskey and you’ the best.

ohhh, and the piano playing guy…he was so happy playing and singing, and alisha was so happy with him…but…he didn’t make the cut. too bad, he was unique and would have been interesting to watch.

josh halverson, the indian-looking guy who sang ‘whiskey and you’ continues to be quite high in the itunes chart. i am finding that i am playing the song over and over, i may just have to buy it. i think the way the three that i mentioned are ranking in itunes is how people truly feel about the song. later on when they count for votes and double votes, then it is more about the competition and voting. i find that interesting.

Josh is one to watch. He’s been on three teams so far. I believe all of the cuts and steals are predetermined.
I like Arron Gibson as well and Sundance Head is suprisingly good. I remember his dad, Roy Head.
There are several “eclectic’ singers this season as well as R&B singers. Should be a decent live season.
Ha ha, that ole boy does look like Billy Bob (but not in Slingblade) Thorton. I liked him pretty well too.
The “Hound-Dog-blew-my-vocal-Chords-girl” is the only girl that sticks in my head at this point. Well, I guess there is “We, Way, how do you spell tha”t and Blakes “smooth” R&B singer that were memeorable but not likely to earn my dollars.
The other Josh, who is a country singer, could get some traction once the country voters get behind him.
Riley, the crooner kid, is entertaining. I think he needs to flip a song that isn’t normally performed in the crooner style to his style. Otherwise, he seems like an imitater.

yes, hound dog girl stands out. and so does ‘way-weigh’ haha.
that sounds like a great idea for the crooner kid. and i think that his coach might come up with that idea…
i don’t agree that the cuts and steals are predetermined, i just totally don’t. as i mentioned in my earlier post..i do think that miley and alisha discussed that last steal, but that’s it.
still totally listening to that ‘whiskey and you’ song by josh. so totally not the kind of words that i relate to, but i soooo relate to that voice singing them…
