About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

I think Billy will go along way….. Why not get a country winner, at least one has a shot in that genre….. AKA Carrie Underwood.. Look where she went from AI…. On to be crowned Entertainer of the Year this year…. Her Storyteller tour is out of this world and was rated from Billboard as the top Country tour for 2016…

Last night’s show was very entertaining. There is some incredible talent this season. So far, no favorites!

I like Sundance Head and Kylie, the girl that did “Hound Dog.” I doubt either of these two are the winner but I enjoied them. There were many other talented singers. The girl that has a singing voice that is 180 degrees out of sync from her speaking voice (reminds me of Gommer Pyle in that regard. We’ maybe?) is pretty remarkable. Jason who was stolen by Blake has potential.
I thought Faith and Tim (who must both be on an all lettuce diet) gave good, specific advice to each contestant for the most part. The married duo are on tour together, which probably accounts for having two country mentors. I didn’t detect any genre bias from them.

I didn’t realize that I was a day behind in watching recorded episodes of the Voice. I can’t say that Billy Gilman twangs my buds. I liked Courtny on Blakes team, . Maybe Miley can get Belle up to speed.
IDOL UPDATE
I got to see Casey Abrams performing with Post Modern Jukebox Saturday night. I had hoped that Haley Rineheart and a another girl named Morgan James would be in the show, but they don’t list the cast members when you are buying tickets. Casey was a hoot.

my favorite thus far is the young guy whose dad was a marine. i can’t remember his name. he has a raspy voice. i’ve loved him each time he sings. normally when i have a favorite they don’t last long, so i was glad he was picked this time and still remains.
gene, haha, billy gilman doesn’t twang my buds either. especially this time. although itunes seemed to like him.
and, gene again, i also enjoy kylie who sang hound dog. although i don’t especially like that song, she really did well with it. because she talks about her ‘busted’ vocal chords, i’m nervous about her. she’s obviously been okayed to sing.
and gene, yes, we’, i can’t spell it either, but that’s her name, that powerful singing voice and the squeaky talking voice is so interesting. i love how the guest ‘helpers’ react when they experience her, their mouths always fall open. so funny.

I think Kylie should give thanks daily for the “busted” vocal chords, don’t you? I think that’s where she picked up the nice rasp she has I do wonder if the problem may crop up again.
So would We’s name be “Si” in Spanish?

gene, interesting, yes, the rasp could have come from the damaged vocal chords. when i hear about damaged vocal chords i think about our mcl saying these people need to use proper techniques to prevent damage.

I am thanking in terms of pronounciation more than spelling We (Oui in French) for yes and Si in Spanish for roughly yes. Dumb joke I guess.
I’m thinking her rasp is a residual effect of the damage but it had occured to me that it could be a unhealthy style that she is currently using that is reponsable for it

gene…ahhhh, now it makes sense. it didn’t earlier because i heard alicia keys call her name ‘way’ rather than ‘we’ and that is where my head was.
and interesting, i thought the rasp could have been from prior unhealthy life style. 🙂
