The picture above this article says it all. Look at that zany bunch of characters! Their playful expressions and mannerisms speak volumes and explain why this show has been such a pleasurable and entertaining presence in our lives every summer. It is such a gem of a show and the variety of talent just catapults it to another level entirely.
Last week, we saw some incredible talent. Everyone was spectacular.
However, I loved 13-year-old classical singer Laura Bretan who justifiably received the Golden Buzzer from Mel B., automatically sending her to the live shows. She gave a beautiful peformance of “Nessun Dorma“with heartfelt passion and mighty fine technique. Although I do not approve of young singers, especially female singers, singing such advanced operatic repertoire, I appreciate Laura’s respect for the lyrical, musical and expressive challenges required to successfully perform this number.
I also loved the vocal group, Linkin’ Bridge, who vocalized a very current, very hip version of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow“. Their harmonies were sublime – very difficult, yet executed so well. These guys made it look far too easy because the arrangement of this song was extremely difficult. This was a professional, polished and entertaining showcase. I am rooting for these guys.
The visual artist, Hara, mesmerized me with his gorgeous peformance. It was one of the most beautiful visual performances I have ever seen – just impeccably creative and magical to behold. I could have watched him all evening.
So, what will this week bring? Tune into NBC at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 7th and find out!!
